The infinity symbol in Apple Music is the AutoPlay control. When it is on, Apple Music adds similar songs to the queue so music can continue after your current selection. It does not repeat the song that is playing.
What AutoPlay does
AutoPlay extends playback by finding similar songs and adding them after the music already in your queue. Apple describes it as finding similar songs and playing them afterwards. The infinity icon indicates that this feature is on.

To inspect the suggestions, open the currently playing song, tap Playing Next, then scroll to the AutoPlay section. Songs there are queued to play after your existing selections.
How to turn the infinity symbol on or off
- Open the Now Playing view for the song you are listening to.
- Tap Playing Next.
- Scroll to AutoPlay, then tap the AutoPlay button at the top-right of the queue screen to change its state.
If you want playback to stop after the songs already in your queue, turn AutoPlay off. Apple says turning it off on one device also turns it off on other devices signed in with the same Apple Account. The current Apple Support instructions cover iPhone, iPad, and Android; interface details may vary by app or software version.

How AutoPlay differs from Repeat, AutoMix, and Crossfade
AutoPlay adds similar songs after the queued music. Repeat One plays the current song again, while Repeat All repeats the queue. AutoMix is for seamless transitions between songs; Crossfade fades one track out as the next fades in. Apple lists these as separate controls in its Mac symbol guide, though labels and placement can vary by device and software version.
Who can use AutoPlay?
Apple says AutoPlay is available only to Apple Music subscribers. The setting is associated with the Apple Account, so changing it on one device affects other devices signed in to that account.
