In Apple Maps on iPhone, tap the search field, search for Local Lists, tap Guides, then choose a collection. Apple says Local Lists are available in select U.S. cities, so the option may not appear everywhere.
How to find Local Lists in Apple Maps

Open the Maps app on your iPhone and tap the search field.

Open a guide to see the places in it.
These are Apple Maps collections for discovering locally relevant places. Apple says its suggestions draw on what people view, share, and interact with most in Maps. Apple also says the trend insights behind Local Lists are designed with privacy in mind and are not tied to individual users. Apple’s June 2026 announcement describes Local Lists as a U.S. feature, while Apple Support documents its use in select U.S. cities.

How to save or share a Local Lists guide
Save a guide for later
Open the guide and tap Add to Guides. Apple says saved guides are available under Places > Guides. The control saves the guide as a whole; it is different from saving just one place.
Share a guide
Open the guide and tap its Share button, then choose a sharing option offered by your iPhone. Apple’s guide instructions cover saving and sharing in Explore places with guides in Maps on iPhone.

Why Local Lists may not appear
Apple documents Local Lists as available in select U.S. cities. Its support directions do not provide a complete city list, so there is no reliable way to confirm availability for every location from Apple’s published guidance. If searching “Local Lists” does not return a Guides result, the feature may not be available in your area. Apple’s documentation does not establish another specific cause or a setting that enables Local Lists.
Local Lists versus your own custom guides
Local Lists are surfaced collections for discovery; custom guides are lists you assemble and manage yourself. Use a Local List to browse places selected for local relevance, or create a custom guide when you want a personal shortlist or itinerary.

Create a custom guide

In Maps, go to Your Guides and tap the add-to-list control.

Name the guide, optionally choose a photo, then tap Done.

To add a place, open its place card, tap More, then tap Add to Guides and choose your guide.

Apple documents these controls in Organize places with custom guides in Maps on iPhone. Custom guides can also be renamed, edited, shared, and have places removed.

Save one place instead of an entire guide
To keep a single spot, save the place to Places from its place card. You can add a personal note there. Apple says notes remain personal: if you share the place, a note may appear as text with the shared link, but it is not added to the recipient’s notes.
