Neither phone is better across the board. The Xiaomi REDMI Turbo 5 (India model) leads on the spec sheet for screen size, refresh rate, stated battery capacity, wired charging speed, and base storage. The Apple iPhone 16 is the smaller phone, runs iOS, supports MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging, and fits the Apple ecosystem. The price gap between them differed across the listings checked on 4 October 2026, so treat any single price difference as a snapshot, not a fixed figure.
How the two phones compare on paper
The table below uses manufacturer specifications and the configurations shown in comparison listings. Where a source does not state a value, the cell says so rather than filling it in.

Display: size and refresh rate
The REDMI Turbo 5 has a screen about half an inch wider on the diagonal, and its panel can run at 120Hz. The iPhone 16 is the more compact device, which matters for one-handed use and pocketability. Refresh rate affects how smooth scrolling and animations look, but it does not tell you about brightness, color accuracy, or panel quality. Those need side-by-side viewing or measured tests, and none were established for these two models.

Performance and software
The two phones run different chips and different operating systems, so part of the choice is which platform you already use. iOS is the native system for an iPhone. HyperOS 3 on Android 16 is Xiaomi’s layer over Android.

Gaming
No controlled gaming benchmark, sustained-performance test, or thermal comparison for these two phones was found in the sources checked. Any claim that one is better for gaming would go beyond the evidence. The chip names and the Redmi’s higher stated refresh rate are the only verifiable differences that bear on games.
Memory and storage
The Redmi’s India listing starts at 8GB RAM, with a 12GB option, and includes 256GB of storage. The iPhone 16 comparison listing shows 8GB RAM and a 128GB base. This matters for price comparisons, because a 256GB phone and a 128GB phone are not the same product.

Battery and charging
The two companies measure battery life differently. Apple’s figure of up to 22 hours of video playback is a manufacturer estimate under its own test conditions. Xiaomi’s 7540mAh is a typical battery capacity rating. A larger capacity can mean longer use, but it does not guarantee it, because screen size, refresh rate, chip efficiency, and usage all change the result. No comparable real-world battery test for these two phones was established.
Wired charging
The REDMI Turbo 5 is rated for 100W wired charging, far above the wired charging rating listed for the iPhone 16. Xiaomi notes that actual charging speed varies with environment and conditions. Apple’s listed fast-charge condition requires a 20W adapter or higher, and that adapter is sold separately. The Redmi also supports 27W wired reverse charging, which lets it power another device by cable.

Wireless charging
The iPhone 16 supports MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging up to 25W. This is the iPhone’s clearest charging advantage. The Xiaomi India listing reviewed does not state a wireless charging figure for the REDMI Turbo 5, so the wireless comparison is not complete.
Cameras
The iPhone 16 uses a 48MP Fusion main camera with a 2x telephoto option and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. The REDMI Turbo 5 uses a 50MP Sony IMX882 main sensor with optical image stabilization, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 20MP front camera. Megapixel count alone does not determine image quality, because sensor size, lens design, processing, and stabilization all matter. No controlled side-by-side photo comparison is available for these two phones, so no camera-quality ranking is offered here.

Durability and software support
Both phones are rated for water and dust resistance, but the ratings are not equivalent in scope. Apple lists IP68 under IEC 60529. Xiaomi lists IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K. Ratings describe specific test conditions, so check each manufacturer’s wording before assuming the phones match in use.
Recommended Free Tools
Xiaomi’s official REDMI Turbo 5 FAQ states that the phone will receive four years of Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates. That is a stated commitment, not a guarantee of future delivery. The five-year support figure attached to the iPhone 16 in one comparison listing is not confirmed by Apple’s documentation, so do not treat it as an official Apple commitment.

Price difference in India
Two price listings checked on 4 October 2026 disagree substantially. The table shows what each page displayed and the gap calculated from those figures. Each gap is arithmetic on a single snapshot, not a current guaranteed difference.
| Listing (accessed 2026-10-04) | iPhone 16 price | REDMI Turbo 5 configuration and price | Gap from that snapshot |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gadgets Now comparison | ₹67,490 (list price ₹79,900) | 12GB/256GB at ₹46,999 (list price ₹57,999) | ₹20,491 |
| 91mobiles comparison (Amazon India references) | ₹86,900 | ₹41,999; configuration not stated | ₹44,901 |
The iPhone 16 figure is ₹19,410 higher on the 91mobiles page than on the Gadgets Now page, and the Redmi figure is ₹5,000 lower on the 91mobiles page. The 91mobiles iPhone figure is also above the list price shown on the Gadgets Now page. The two pages cannot both describe the same offer, and the Redmi configuration is stated on only one of them, so the two gaps are not a like-for-like comparison.
Which one to choose
Choose the iPhone 16 if
- You already use an iPhone or other Apple devices and want iOS.
- You prefer a 6.1-inch phone that is easier to hold and carry.
- MagSafe or Qi2 wireless charging matters to you.
- You are willing to accept the 128GB base configuration shown in the listings checked.
Choose the REDMI Turbo 5 if
- You want a larger screen with a 120Hz refresh rate.
- A high stated battery capacity and very fast wired charging are your priorities.
- You want 256GB of storage at the 12GB/256GB configuration shown in the Gadgets Now snapshot.
- You are comfortable with Android and HyperOS.
Before you buy either phone
- Confirm the regional variant. Xiaomi’s India page documents the network bands supported in that market, so check them against your carrier.
- Check the package contents. Xiaomi’s India package list includes a charger, cable, and case, and Xiaomi notes that package contents may vary.
- Check the seller, warranty terms, and today’s price, with the storage configuration written next to it.
These recommendations follow the listed specifications and the price snapshots above. They are not based on hands-on testing of either phone.
