Apple iPhone 11 Pro vs Apple iPhone 11 comes down to priorities: the iPhone 11 Pro is the better phone for its OLED display, telephoto camera, premium build, and larger storage options, while the iPhone 11 is usually the better value when substantially cheaper or when you prefer its larger 6.1-inch screen.
Both phones launched in September 2019 and use the same A13 Bionic processor, Face ID, Lightning connector, and LTE connectivity. Both are currently listed as compatible with iOS 26, but neither offers 5G or the longer support runway of a newer iPhone.
Key takeaways
- The iPhone 11 Pro has the superior 5.8-inch OLED HDR display, while the iPhone 11 has a larger 6.1-inch LCD display.
- Both phones use the A13 Bionic chip, so the iPhone 11 Pro is not faster than the iPhone 11.
- The iPhone 11 Pro adds a 12MP telephoto camera with 2× optical zoom and offers up to 512GB of storage; the iPhone 11 has two rear cameras and tops out at 256GB.
- Apple rated the iPhone 11 Pro for up to 18 hours of video playback and the iPhone 11 for up to 17 hours, but battery health matters more when buying a used phone in 2026.
- Both phones are currently listed as compatible with iOS 26, but current compatibility does not guarantee identical features or a specific future support date.
Apple iPhone 11 Pro vs Apple iPhone 11: what is the difference?
The iPhone 11 Pro is the more capable and premium model, but the iPhone 11 can be the smarter purchase when its used price is meaningfully lower. The Pro’s advantages are concentrated in the display, camera flexibility, materials, storage, and a small original battery-life rating advantage. The iPhone 11 counters with a larger screen, lower typical used-market cost, and essentially the same processor and core iOS experience.
Apple’s direct iPhone comparison tool confirms the principal hardware differences. The table below turns those specifications into buying implications.
#1 Best Overall
- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- When you receive the phone, insert a SIM card from a compatible carrier. Then, turn it on, connect to Wi-Fi, and follow the on screen prompts to activate service.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.

Which iPhone has the better display?
The iPhone 11 Pro has the clearly better display, while the iPhone 11 has the larger display. The iPhone 11 Pro uses a 5.8-inch Super Retina XDR OLED panel with a 2436 × 1125 resolution, 458 pixels per inch, HDR support, 800 nits typical brightness, and a 1,200-nit HDR peak. The iPhone 11 uses a larger 6.1-inch Liquid Retina HD LCD with a 1792 × 828 resolution, 326 pixels per inch, 625 nits typical brightness, and no HDR display.
Those differences are visible in everyday use. OLED pixels can produce much deeper blacks and stronger contrast, and the Pro’s higher pixel density makes small text and detailed images look sharper. HDR movies and photos also have a more convincing range of highlights and shadows on the Pro. The iPhone 11’s larger panel is more comfortable for reading, typing, and watching standard video, but larger does not mean higher quality.
Choose the iPhone 11 Pro if display quality, outdoor readability, HDR video, and compact size matter most. Choose the iPhone 11 if screen area matters more than OLED contrast and sharpness. Verify the actual panel on a used Pro carefully because an unverified replacement display can materially reduce the phone’s quality.

Which camera is better: iPhone 11 Pro or iPhone 11?
The iPhone 11 Pro has the more versatile camera system because it adds a 12MP telephoto camera to the iPhone 11’s 12MP wide and ultrawide cameras. The iPhone 11 Pro supports 2× optical zoom in and 2× optical zoom out, while the iPhone 11 supports 2× optical zoom out only. The Pro also offers up to 10× digital zoom compared with up to 5× on the iPhone 11.
| Camera use | iPhone 11 Pro | iPhone 11 | Practical result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Everyday wide photos | 12MP wide camera with optical stabilization | 12MP wide camera with optical stabilization | Both share substantial main-camera capability. |
| Landscapes and interiors | 12MP ultrawide | 12MP ultrawide | Neither has a clear lens-count advantage here. |
| Portraits and distant subjects | 12MP telephoto with 2× optical zoom in | No telephoto camera | Pro can frame subjects without moving closer or relying as heavily on digital zoom. |
| Night mode | Available on the wide camera | Available on the wide camera | Do not buy the Pro expecting Night mode on every lens. |
| Video | Up to 4K at 60 fps | Up to 4K at 60 fps | Core maximum video recording is similar. |
| Front camera | 12MP TrueDepth | 12MP TrueDepth | Selfie and Face ID hardware platforms are similar. |
The telephoto lens is decisive for portraits, pets, travel details, stage events, and other subjects that cannot be approached. The Pro also has optical image stabilization on its wide and telephoto cameras, whereas the iPhone 11 has optical stabilization on the wide camera.
The iPhone 11 Pro does not automatically produce a dramatically better photograph in every situation. At normal wide-camera framing and in good light, the two phones share important camera technology. The Pro’s real advantage is focal-length choice, optical zoom, and additional stabilization—not a completely different main-camera experience. Apple’s model comparison lists the lens and zoom differences.

Is the iPhone 11 Pro faster than the iPhone 11?
No. The iPhone 11 Pro is not faster than the iPhone 11 because both phones use the A13 Bionic chip. Each has a six-core CPU, four-core GPU, and eight-core Neural Engine. General app performance, gaming capability, and responsiveness therefore come from the same processor generation.
The Pro can feel more premium because its OLED screen is sharper and its animations and media look better, but the display experience should not be confused with processor performance. Do not pay a premium for the Pro on the assumption that “Pro” means a faster A13 variant.
Do the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro support iOS 26?
Yes. Apple’s current iPhone guide lists both the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro as compatible with iOS 26 as of August 18, 2026. Apple’s iOS 26 compatibility list is a current snapshot, not a promised support end date.
Compatibility also does not guarantee feature parity. Apple can restrict individual iOS 26 features to newer hardware, and app developers can eventually raise their minimum iOS requirement. A supported 2019 phone can still have weak battery health, a broken Face ID system, an unknown replacement part, or a carrier restriction.
Update and activate a used phone before the return period expires. The ability to install the current operating system is useful evidence that the device is functioning, but it is not proof that the phone is future-proof.
Do either phone support 5G or USB-C?
Neither phone supports 5G or USB-C. The iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro use Gigabit-class LTE for cellular service and a Lightning connector for charging and accessories.
LTE remains usable for calls, messaging, browsing, and streaming, but a buyer seeking modern 5G service, newer modem behavior, USB-C accessories, or a longer expected software runway should compare a newer refurbished iPhone before choosing either 2019 model.

Which phone has better battery life?
Apple originally rated the iPhone 11 Pro slightly higher: up to 18 hours of video playback and up to 11 hours of streamed video, compared with up to 17 hours of video playback and up to 10 hours of streamed video for the iPhone 11. The official difference is modest, and the healthier used battery can easily win in real-world ownership.
Battery health, replacement history, display brightness, cellular signal, camera use, gaming, and background activity all affect runtime. A heavily worn iPhone 11 Pro can last less than a healthier iPhone 11. Check Settings → Battery → Battery Health & Charging, ask whether the battery was replaced, and treat low maximum capacity as a price or replacement issue.
Both phones support wired charging through Lightning and wireless charging. Neither phone’s battery rating should be treated as a guarantee for a used device. Apple’s iPhone 11 technical specifications and iPhone 11 Pro technical specifications contain the original laboratory and playback ratings.
Which phone is larger and easier to hold?
The iPhone 11 is larger, but the iPhone 11 Pro is slightly lighter. The iPhone 11 measures 150.9 × 75.7 × 8.3mm and weighs 194g. The iPhone 11 Pro measures approximately 144.0 × 71.4 × 8.1mm and weighs 188g.
The 11’s 6.1-inch body provides more screen area for reading and video, but the extra size does not make the phone lighter. The Pro is shorter and narrower, which can help with one-handed use, although its stainless-steel frame can feel denser than the iPhone 11’s aluminum frame. Buyers with smaller hands should handle both if possible rather than assuming that the smaller screen automatically makes the Pro more comfortable.

The iPhone 11 Pro has a stainless-steel frame and textured matte-glass back, while the iPhone 11 has an aluminum frame and glass back. The Pro has Apple’s stronger stated water-resistance rating: IP68 to a maximum depth of 4 meters for up to 30 minutes under Apple’s laboratory conditions. The iPhone 11 is rated IP68 to a maximum depth of 2 meters for up to 30 minutes under the same type of stated conditions.
Neither phone is waterproof. Water resistance can decline after normal wear, drops, repairs, or opening the device. An aging used phone with a previously replaced screen or back glass should not be treated as having its original liquid protection. Liquid damage may not be covered by a standard warranty.

Which storage capacity should you buy?
The iPhone 11 is available in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB capacities. The iPhone 11 Pro is available in 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB capacities. Storage capacity is advertised capacity, not the amount available for photos and apps after iOS and system data occupy space.
| Capacity | Best suited to | Important caution |
|---|---|---|
| 64GB | Light users, temporary phones, or basic backup use | Photos, iOS data, offline media, messages, and app caches can make 64GB restrictive. |
| 128GB | Most moderate everyday users | Available on iPhone 11 but not on iPhone 11 Pro. |
| 256GB | Longer ownership, larger photo libraries, and regular video | Available on both models; compare the actual price rather than model labels. |
| 512GB | Video-heavy users and very large local libraries | Available only on iPhone 11 Pro and may cost enough to justify a newer model. |
For many 2026 buyers, 128GB is a more comfortable minimum than 64GB. iCloud storage can synchronize or offload some content, but iCloud storage does not increase the iPhone’s local storage capacity. A 256GB iPhone 11 Pro can be better value than a cheaper 64GB iPhone 11 if the larger capacity prevents an immediate upgrade or recurring storage management.
How should you buy a used or refurbished iPhone 11?
When buying either phone in the United States in 2026, the listing’s condition, battery, lock status, repair history, and return policy can matter more than the difference between the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro.
- Confirm the exact model and storage. On the phone, open Settings → General → About and verify the model name, capacity, serial number, and IMEI. Do not rely solely on the listing title.
- Check Activation Lock. The phone should be erased and reach the “Hello” setup screen without requesting the previous owner’s Apple Account. Do not buy a device that remains linked to someone else’s account.
- Verify carrier status. Confirm that the phone is unlocked if you plan to use a different carrier. An inexpensive locked phone may be unusable on your intended network.
- Inspect battery health. Open Settings → Battery → Battery Health & Charging. Ask for the maximum-capacity reading and replacement details, and make weak battery health part of the price calculation.
- Test Face ID. Face ID should enroll and unlock consistently. Failure can indicate TrueDepth-camera damage or a problematic prior repair and is a major warning sign.
- Review Parts and Service History. On supported iOS versions, Settings → General → About may show replacement parts or service messages. A replacement part is not automatically defective, but an unknown display, battery, or camera can affect quality, reporting, True Tone, behavior, and resale value.
- Test every camera. Check the wide and ultrawide cameras on both models. On the Pro, switch to the telephoto camera and test focus, flash, Night mode, video, microphones, and stabilization.
- Inspect the display. On the Pro, check for OLED burn-in, green tint, dead pixels, touch problems, and display warnings. On the 11, check LCD discoloration, brightness uniformity, and touch response.
- Test wireless and physical functions. Test Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular data, GPS, NFC and Apple Pay where possible, wireless charging, Lightning charging, speakers, microphones, vibration, and the proximity sensor.
- Read the return and warranty terms. A low price is poor value if the seller provides no meaningful return period or excludes the battery and replacement-part problems most likely to appear after delivery.
Apple Certified Refurbished is not the same as third-party refurbishment. Apple’s US Certified Refurbished iPhone inventory currently shows newer models rather than the iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro, so buyers looking for these models will generally use used, marketplace, or third-party refurbished inventory. Marketplace and refurbisher grading systems vary; verify the individual listing’s battery policy, warranty, parts policy, and return terms.

| Buyer priority | Best choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Best display | iPhone 11 Pro | OLED, HDR, 458 ppi, and higher stated brightness. |
| Best camera flexibility | iPhone 11 Pro | Dedicated telephoto camera, 2× optical zoom in, and additional stabilization. |
| Largest screen for the money | iPhone 11 | 6.1-inch display and generally lower used pricing. |
| Same-generation performance at the lowest cost | iPhone 11 | It uses the same A13 Bionic chip as the Pro. |
| Large local photo or video library | iPhone 11 Pro, preferably 256GB or 512GB | The Pro offers higher storage capacities than the 11. |
| Small hands or compact phone preference | iPhone 11 Pro | It is shorter and narrower, although its stainless-steel construction feels dense. |
| Backup, child, travel, or temporary phone | Healthier, cheaper listing of either model | Battery, lock status, Face ID, and return protection matter more than the Pro badge. |
| 5G, USB-C, and longer expected support | Newer refurbished iPhone | Neither 2019 model provides those newer-platform advantages. |
When should you buy neither iPhone 11 model?
Buy neither model when its price approaches a newer refurbished iPhone with 5G, USB-C, a newer chip, and a longer expected support runway. The oldest phone is not automatically the cheapest long-term choice when a battery replacement, low storage, missing warranty, or poor resale value is included.
Skip a particular listing if Activation Lock is enabled, Face ID does not work, the phone is carrier-locked when you need it unlocked, battery health is poor and there is no return period, or the display or camera has an unknown or visibly low-quality replacement part. Skip a 64GB listing priced close to a newer 128GB phone. Buyers who require Apple Intelligence or newer camera capabilities should not treat either iPhone 11 model as a current flagship replacement.

Apple’s US refurbished store showed newer models such as a 128GB iPhone 15 at $529 and a 128GB iPhone 16 at $619 when crawled in August 2026, but those are dated inventory observations rather than permanent prices. Compare the live price, warranty, storage, battery policy, and seller protection before deciding that an iPhone 11 is the bargain option.
Best Value

- Inspected and guaranteed to have minimal cosmetic damage, which is not noticeable when the device is held at arm's length.
- Successfully passed a full diagnostic test which ensures like-new functionality and removal of any prior-user personal information.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a charging cable that may be generic.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
Final verdict
Buy the iPhone 11 Pro if the price difference is small and you value the OLED display, telephoto camera, compact dimensions, premium materials, or 256GB/512GB storage. The iPhone 11 Pro is the better phone overall.
Buy the iPhone 11 if it is substantially cheaper, you prefer a larger 6.1-inch screen, and your photography mostly uses the wide and ultrawide cameras. The iPhone 11 delivers broadly similar A13 performance and core software capabilities for less money.
For either model, choose the healthier, unlocked, Face ID-equipped phone with a clear parts history and a real return policy. If the final price is close to a newer refurbished iPhone, choose the newer phone instead for 5G, USB-C, a newer chip, and a better long-term ownership outlook.

Is the iPhone 11 Pro worth buying over the iPhone 11 in 2026?
The iPhone 11 Pro is worth buying over the iPhone 11 when the price difference is small and you want its OLED HDR display, telephoto camera, premium build, or 256GB/512GB storage. The iPhone 11 is better value when it is substantially cheaper or when you prefer its larger 6.1-inch screen.
Does the iPhone 11 Pro have a better processor than the iPhone 11?
No. Both the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 use the A13 Bionic chip with a six-core CPU, four-core GPU, and eight-core Neural Engine. The Pro improves the display and camera system, not processor speed.
Are the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro 5G phones?
No. Both the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro support Gigabit-class LTE but not 5G. Buyers who specifically need 5G should consider a newer iPhone.
Is the iPhone 11 Pro waterproof?
No. Apple rates the iPhone 11 Pro IP68 to a maximum depth of 4 meters for up to 30 minutes under laboratory conditions, but water resistance can decline with age, drops, repairs, and worn seals. The iPhone 11 has a stated 2-meter, 30-minute IP68 rating.
What should you check before buying a used iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro?
Check Activation Lock, carrier-unlocked status, battery health, Face ID, Parts and Service History, display and camera operation, charging, wireless functions, and the seller’s return and warranty terms. A healthier iPhone 11 can be a better purchase than a damaged or heavily worn iPhone 11 Pro.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The iPhone 11 Pro is the better phone, but the iPhone 11 is often the better deal. In 2026, buy based on the complete listing—storage, battery health, repair history, lock status, warranty, and price—not the “Pro” label alone.
