This October 1, 2026 roundup collects six outside stories and media items, from a reported fake iPhone Duo preorder scam to an AirPods 5 teardown and a creator-focused podcast episode. It is a curated set of links, not a single developing story or an independent product review.
Fake iPhone Duo preorder page reportedly targeted personal data
9to5Mac reported on September 30 that scammers were promoting a fake iPhone Duo preorder page with a purported $500 discount voucher, ahead of preorders scheduled to begin October 16. The outlet attributed its technical account to Malwarebytes researchers, who said the page used the DarkSword exploit chain and could affect some older iPhones that had not been updated. The report said simply opening the page could trigger an attack attempt, potentially seeking device and app information, Apple Notes, wallet data, saved credentials, and other personal information.
According to 9to5Mac, Google disclosed DarkSword in March 2026 and Apple issued a patch later that month. The outlet’s story does not establish that every iPhone is vulnerable; its warning concerns some older, unpatched devices. Its practical advice is to avoid unexpected links and install iOS updates promptly.
AirPods 5 teardown finds a limited repairability improvement
AppleInsider’s September 29 coverage of an iFixit teardown describes a small change, not a fully repairable design. The report says heat and clamping can remove the earbuds’ outer covers and expose their batteries, which attach with two prongs. The batteries have opposite polarity, however, and cannot be swapped between the left and right earbuds. The charging case remains inaccessible, according to AppleInsider.

AppleInsider says iFixit raised its repairability score from zero to two. That score increase reflects the limited access described for the earbuds; it does not mean the entire AirPods 5 set, including its case, is straightforward to repair.
What the roundup says about Apple’s foldable
The roundup links to a CNET item and describes Apple’s foldable as a $1,999 product aimed at people who want something different and can afford it. That is the roundup’s brief characterization, not enough detail to assess the device’s features, availability, or value. The linked Apple News page was not accessible for fuller context.

DoorDash reportedly plans a Messages-based ordering assistant
The roundup says DoorDash is inviting customers in the United States to join a waitlist for an AI assistant that can take food orders through Apple Messages. The linked Bloomberg story was not accessible, so the roundup does not establish who is eligible, how ordering would work, or when the assistant might launch.

The roundup attributes to X user @Aaronp613 a claim that Apple Music is now available in Albania, Brunei, Burkina Faso, and Pakistan. The post could not be accessed, so those countries should be treated as an attributed claim in this roundup rather than independently confirmed availability.
