Yes. Both companies have disclosed supplier relationships that run in both directions, though the two disclosures involve different Samsung business units and do not describe the same deal. Apple has said it is working with Samsung on chip production in Texas, and Samsung’s own financial filing lists Apple among the suppliers of cover glass to Samsung Display. Neither document explains the full picture, so the accurate answer is narrower than a headline saying the two firms supply each other across the board.
Samsung supplies Apple chips from its Austin fab
The clearest public statement comes from Apple’s August 6, 2025 announcement, “Apple increases U.S. commitment to $600 billion, announces ambitious program.” In it, Apple says it is working with Samsung at Samsung’s Austin, Texas fab on a new chip-making technology. Apple says the facility will supply chips that optimize power and performance in Apple products, including iPhones shipped worldwide.
Three limits apply. Apple does not name the chip, state a production volume, or identify which iPhone models or other Apple products will use it. Treat the announcement as confirmation that Samsung’s Austin fab is producing chips for Apple under a stated program, not as a parts list for any particular phone.
The same announcement carries a quote from Apple CEO Tim Cook: “At Apple, we believe in the power of American innovation and manufacturing, and we’re proud to partner with even more companies to produce critical components and cutting-edge materials for our products right here in the U.S.” Cook was describing Apple’s U.S. manufacturing partnerships in general. The quote does not single out Samsung.

Apple appears as a cover-glass supplier to Samsung Display
The reverse direction appears in Samsung Electronics’ 2026 First-Quarter Interim Report, in the supplier materials table for Samsung Display (SDC). That table identifies cover glass as tempered glass and names Apple and LENS among SDC’s suppliers. It also records a purchase-price share of 14.3% for cover glass within SDC’s listed raw-material purchases.
Two points keep this entry precise. First, it is a supplier listing in a Samsung filing, not a statement from Apple, so the relationship is documented by Samsung alone. Second, the filing does not say which Apple legal entity is the supplier, which glass manufacturer made the part, or which Samsung Display product uses it. Describing Apple as the company that manufactures the glass goes beyond what the filing shows.

Why rival companies can trade components
Apple and Samsung compete in smartphones, but that does not rule out commercial supply relationships. Apple’s own supply-chain description explains that suppliers provide parts and materials that become components such as displays, batteries and chips, which Apple then assembles into its products. A company can sell a component to a rival while competing with it in finished devices, and buy a different component from it.
The two flows therefore do not contradict each other. One runs from Samsung’s chip operations to Apple’s chip supply. The other runs from Apple into Samsung Display’s glass purchasing. Neither flow shows that either company builds the other’s finished phones.

What the disclosures do not establish
Several claims are easy to overstate. The two disclosures do not establish the following:
- That Samsung makes the processor or other chips in all iPhones. Apple ties the Austin work to chips for Apple products and names iPhones as one example.
- That Apple manufactures glass for Samsung Display. The filing lists Apple as a supplier of cover glass and does not identify the glass maker.
- That the two supply relationships involve the same Samsung unit or the same Apple entity. The Austin fab and Samsung Display are separate parts of the Samsung group.
- That either disclosure amounts to a full list of parts. Apple’s Form 10-K for the fiscal year ended September 27, 2025 describes a global outsourced manufacturing network and warns that some components come from single or limited sources, which is a reason to treat any public overview as partial.
How to read the U.S. manufacturing statistic
Apple’s 2025 announcement also says that roughly two-thirds of the components it makes in the U.S. are exported to customers outside the U.S. This describes Apple’s U.S.-made components as a whole. It says nothing about how much of that output goes to Samsung, and it should not be cited as a measure of trade between the two companies.

The short answer
According to Apple, Samsung’s Austin fab is working with Apple to supply chips for Apple products, including iPhones. According to Samsung’s 2026 first-quarter filing, Apple is listed as a supplier of tempered cover glass to Samsung Display. Both flows are real as disclosed, but each covers a specific component and a specific part of the corporate group. Neither company’s public statements show the full set of parts flowing between them, or which finished devices contain which supplied parts.
