Neither chip wins every published benchmark. In the cited Geekbench 6 results, Apple’s A19 leads single-core performance, while multi-core results are close and disagree by source. Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 scores higher in the cited AnTuTu comparisons, but iOS and Android AnTuTu scores should not be treated as directly comparable. These are published device or source aggregates, not results from a controlled test of both chips in otherwise identical phones.
How the A19 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 differ on paper
Apple’s A19 is the chip in the iPhone 17; the specifications below describe the standard A19, not the A19 Pro. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 uses a different CPU, GPU and AI-processing design.
| Specification | Apple A19 | Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | Six cores: two performance cores and four efficiency cores, according to Apple’s iPhone 17 specifications. | Custom Qualcomm Oryon CPU; peak clock listed as 3.8 GHz on Qualcomm’s product page. |
| Graphics | Five-core GPU with Neural Accelerators, according to Apple. | Adreno GPU, according to Qualcomm. |
| AI processing | 16-core Neural Engine, according to Apple. | Hexagon NPU, according to Qualcomm. |
Those are manufacturer-published descriptions, not a like-for-like specification sheet: Apple and Qualcomm do not provide fully symmetric public details. A third-party comparison labels both processors as 3 nm, but a process-node label alone does not show that their manufacturing characteristics or real-world efficiency are equivalent. Qualcomm’s stated generational performance and efficiency improvements refer to its previous generation, not a direct A19 comparison.
What the published benchmark results show
The figures below come from live comparison pages accessed in 2026. They are publisher-reported aggregates, not independent measurements of both chips in the same phone. Differences between sources can reflect their samples, devices, benchmark versions and aggregation methods.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. - Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Geekbench 6
| Publisher | A19 single-core | Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 single-core | A19 multi-core | Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 multi-core |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 91Mobiles, accessed 2026 | 3,672 | 2,889 | 9,327 | 9,583 |
| NanoReview, live comparison accessed 2026 | 3,692 | 2,833 | 9,454 | 9,119 |
Both pages show a substantial A19 lead in their single-core figures. Their multi-core results differ: 91Mobiles puts Snapdragon slightly ahead, while NanoReview puts A19 ahead. The sensible conclusion is that the published multi-core comparison is close and source-dependent, not that either result establishes a universal winner.
AnTuTu
| Publisher and benchmark version | A19 score | Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 score |
|---|---|---|
| 91Mobiles, version not stated on the cited comparison | 2,250,422 | 3,098,258 |
| NanoReview, AnTuTu 11 | 2,156,126 | 3,057,215 |
Both pages report a higher Snapdragon total. NanoReview explicitly cautions that AnTuTu results for iOS and Android are not directly comparable, so the totals should not be read as a clean cross-platform measure of which chip is faster overall.

What these scores can—and cannot—tell you
- Single-core: useful context for short tasks that rely heavily on one core. The cited Geekbench 6 pages both place A19 ahead.
- Multi-core: relevant to work that can use several cores at once. The cited aggregates are close and disagree on the leader.
- Graphics: compare the same cross-platform graphics test and API before drawing conclusions. The cited results do not establish a controlled graphics winner.
- Sustained speed and power: phone cooling, software and workload affect results over time. The available comparisons do not establish a same-condition winner for sustained performance, power consumption or battery life.
Geekbench’s live mobile benchmark chart includes device-level iPhone 17 entries. It is useful context, but a changing device chart should not be mixed uncritically with a separate comparison page’s aggregate.

How to choose between them
- Choose based on the phone you actually want, including its camera, display, battery, software support and price—not a single aggregate score.
- If you care about lightly threaded workloads, the cited Geekbench 6 results consistently favor A19 in single-core performance.
- If you are comparing AnTuTu totals, treat them as publisher-reported figures and heed the cross-platform comparability warning.
- For gaming or long workloads, look for tests on the exact phones you are considering, using the same game or benchmark, software conditions and duration.
