ApiFlash is the better choice for a focused, lower-cost screenshot endpoint. It offers documented image formats, full-page and mobile captures, viewport and timing controls, CSS-element capture, caching, ad and cookie-banner blocking, and S3 export. Microlink is the better choice for a managed-browser workflow that also needs interaction, metadata extraction, proxy escalation, PDF output, or CDN/embed delivery. Neither can be called objectively faster or more accurate: no neutral, same-workload 2026 benchmark is published.
ScreenshotNeo is the alternative to try first when clean captures, failure-aware billing, and an AI-agent MCP server matter; it removes consent banners, popups, and chat widgets before capture, and bills only successful clean shots.
ApiFlash and Microlink at a glance
| Area | ApiFlash | Microlink |
|---|---|---|
| Primary product | Focused URL-to-image API built on Chrome and AWS Lambda | Managed browser API; every request runs in its own browser instance |
| Best fit | Predictable screenshot jobs with straightforward image controls | Browser interaction, extraction, proxying, and multiple output types |
| Formats and outputs | PNG, JPEG, WebP; full-page and mobile captures; S3 export | Screenshot URLs with metadata, PDF output, and direct CDN/embed delivery |
| Interaction | Viewport, delay, CSS-element capture and related capture controls | CSS and JavaScript interaction, selector waits, device emulation |
| Caching | TTL from 0 to 2,592,000 seconds (30 days) | Configurable TTL and custom cache keys on production plans |
| Blocked sites | Ad and cookie-banner blocking | Proxy escalation and proxy resolution options |
| Published entry price (2026) | 100 screenshots/month free; $7 for 1,000; $35 for 10,000; $180 for 100,000 | 25 requests/day free; Pro $49/month for approximately 46,000 requests |
Prices and quotas are published figures for 2026 and may change. “Requests” and “screenshots” are not necessarily identical units when a workflow produces more than one output.
What ApiFlash does well
Simple URL-to-image requests
ApiFlash is designed around a narrow job: submit a URL and receive an image. It supports GET and POST requests, PNG, JPEG, and WebP, a documented default viewport of 1,920×1,080, full-page capture, mobile captures, timing controls, and CSS-element screenshots. That makes it easy to place behind a report generator, visual-regression job, thumbnail service, or scheduled archive.
Useful capture controls without a browser framework
The API documents a delay of up to 10 seconds, viewport settings, full-page mode, and cache controls. It also documents ad and cookie-banner blocking, which can reduce obvious visual noise without writing selectors for every site. S3 export is available when your pipeline needs the resulting object in your own storage.
Rate and cache planning
ApiFlash documents processing at 20 requests per second with a burst size of 400. Its cache TTL can be set from zero to 2,592,000 seconds. A zero TTL is appropriate for always-fresh monitoring; a longer TTL can prevent repeated captures of unchanged pages and reduce spend. Design your queue to respect the published rate rather than launching an unlimited burst.
What Microlink does well
A managed browser for richer workflows
Microlink describes itself as a fully managed, “backendless” browser service: each request runs in its own browser instance. A request supplies a target url and screenshot: true, or screenshot options such as fullPage, element, and type. The response includes data.screenshot.url plus dimensions, type, and size metadata.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Interaction, extraction, and delivery
Microlink supports CSS and JavaScript interaction, selector waits, device emulation, custom headers, transparent backgrounds, overlays, CSS-selector capture, PDF output, and metadata products beyond screenshots. The API reference also documents embed: 'screenshot.url', which can deliver the image directly for an embed, and CDN-oriented delivery for production applications.

Proxy escalation for difficult targets
Production Microlink plans add proxy resolution and configurable cache behavior. This is the stronger fit when a site is region-sensitive, rejects datacenter traffic, or requires browser steps before the screenshot. Proxy features do not guarantee that a CAPTCHA or bot challenge will be solved; they provide infrastructure for attempting the request.
Pricing and total cost
| Service | Free allowance | First published paid tier | Higher published tiers |
|---|---|---|---|
| ApiFlash | 100 screenshots per month | $7/month for 1,000 screenshots | $35/month for 10,000; $180/month for 100,000; custom enterprise |
| Microlink | 25 requests per day; no API key required for the free endpoint | Pro $49/month for approximately 46,000 requests/month | Business and Enterprise add a dedicated endpoint/browser pool, CDN, and S3-like storage |
ApiFlash has the lower published paid entry price and a quota expressed directly in screenshots. Microlink costs more at entry but bundles a broader browser platform. Compare your actual unit of work: a Microlink request may also return metadata or a PDF, while an ApiFlash job is primarily an image capture.
Which API handles common requirements better?
Full-page screenshots
Both support full-page capture. ApiFlash documents it as a standard image option. Microlink exposes it through fullPage and returns image metadata, which is useful when downstream code needs to validate dimensions.

One element rather than the whole page
Both support selector-based capture. ApiFlash documents CSS-element capture; Microlink uses the element screenshot option and also supports selector waits. Wait for a stable selector when pages render asynchronously instead of relying only on a fixed delay.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsDynamic pages and interaction
Microlink is the stronger choice when you must execute JavaScript, click or manipulate page state, wait for a selector, or combine a screenshot with extracted metadata. ApiFlash is preferable when the page can be captured with viewport, delay, and selector settings and you want the smaller, more focused API surface.
Embedding and storage
Choose ApiFlash’s S3 export when your application owns object storage. Choose Microlink’s screenshot URL, CDN, or embed behavior when you want a managed delivery URL. Confirm URL lifetime and caching behavior for your plan before storing links permanently.
Privacy, headers, and device context
Microlink documents custom headers, device emulation, and proxy controls. These are useful for authenticated or region-dependent pages, but treat credentials as secrets and avoid placing tokens in URLs or logs. ApiFlash’s documented strengths are image controls, caching, and blocking of common ad and consent elements.

Decision guide
- Choose ApiFlash for a narrow screenshot endpoint, PNG/JPEG/WebP output, full-page or mobile images, a documented 20 requests/second rate, and the lower published paid entry tier.
- Choose Microlink for browser interaction, JavaScript evaluation, selector waits, proxy escalation, metadata or PDF alongside screenshots, direct CDN/embed URLs, or managed browser infrastructure.
- Choose ScreenshotNeo first when clean shots and predictable billing are priorities, or when AI agents need screenshot tools through MCP.
Do not choose on an assumed latency or fidelity winner. The available official material does not provide a neutral benchmark using the same URLs, viewport, cache state, and workload.

Microlink request shape
A minimal Microlink screenshot request sets a target URL and enables screenshots. Add fullPage, element, or type only when needed. For production, configure TTL and cache keys deliberately, and inspect data.screenshot.url and its dimensions before handing the result to another service.
ApiFlash integration checklist
- Select PNG for lossless UI comparison, JPEG for photographs, or WebP when supported by your consumers.
- Set the viewport explicitly; do not rely on the 1,920×1,080 default when layout matters.
- Use full-page mode for documents and a CSS element for cards or components.
- Use a delay of no more than the documented 10-second maximum, or cache the result when freshness permits.
- Throttle concurrency to the documented 20 requests/second processing rate and burst size of 400.
Troubleshooting
Blank or incomplete screenshots
Wait for a known selector or increase the page delay within the service’s limits. Lazy-loaded content may require scrolling or a full-page mode that triggers loading. Verify the target URL is publicly reachable and does not depend on a browser session you have not supplied.
Cookie banners, ads, or overlays remain
Use ApiFlash’s documented ad and cookie-banner blocking. In Microlink, use selector or JavaScript interaction to dismiss a known element before capture. Site-specific consent systems can change their markup, so keep selectors under version control.
Bot checks or region blocks
Microlink’s proxy escalation is the relevant option for datacenter or regional restrictions. Neither product’s published material establishes guaranteed CAPTCHA solving. If a challenge is returned, record it as a failed capture rather than treating the challenge page as your screenshot.

Stale output
Inspect cache settings and keys. Set ApiFlash TTL to zero for always-fresh captures, or configure Microlink’s production TTL and custom cache key so query parameters that change the page are represented.
Rate-limit responses
Implement exponential backoff, a bounded queue, and idempotent job identifiers. For ApiFlash, stay below 20 requests per second except for controlled bursts within the documented burst size. For Microlink, check your plan’s request allowance before increasing concurrency.
