The Ampace Andes 1500 is a 1,462Wh portable power station rated for 2,400W of continuous AC output. Ampace says its A-Boost mode can charge it from empty to full in about 55 minutes using up to 1,800W of AC input. That is a manufacturer estimate, not a guaranteed result: settings, temperature, battery state and the wall outlet can affect charging time.

How fast does the Ampace Andes 1500 charge?

Ampace specifies about 55 minutes for a 0%–100% AC recharge in A-Boost mode, with input reaching 1,800W. The user manual gives the same approximate time for US A-Boost charging. The result depends on operating conditions, so treat 55 minutes as a best-case specification rather than a promise for every outlet or charging session. Ampace product information and the user manual provide the manufacturer’s stated figures.

What can the Andes 1500 power?

The station has a 1,462Wh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery and an inverter rated at 2,400W continuous, with a 3,600W peak rating. Its documented outputs are:

  • Four pure-sine-wave AC outlets
  • Four USB-A ports rated up to 18W each
  • Two USB-C ports rated up to 100W each
  • One 120W car socket
  • Two DC5521 outputs

These are 13 ports in total. Ampace says the station can power 99% of household appliances, but that broad claim does not mean every appliance will work in every situation. Check an appliance’s running and startup wattage against the inverter rating; motors and compressors can briefly draw more power at startup. Runtime also depends on the device’s actual consumption and how often it runs.

Manufacturer runtime examples

Ampace’s feature page lists reference examples of a refrigerator running for 1–2 days, an electric drill for 3 hours, a microwave for 2.5 hours and a laptop receiving 57 charges. These are illustrative manufacturer estimates, not independently measured guarantees. Actual results will vary with the appliance, settings and usage pattern. Ampace’s feature page identifies these as reference values.

Is it suitable for home backup?

The 1,462Wh capacity and 2,400W continuous inverter make the Andes 1500 a possible fit for selected household essentials or electronics during an outage, provided their combined loads stay within the unit’s limits. It is not a substitute for assessing your household’s total demand: a high-wattage appliance can use stored energy quickly, and startup surges matter as well as normal running power.

Ampace describes a 20ms UPS switchover when grid power fails. That may suit some electronics, but confirm that the transfer behavior meets the requirements of the equipment you intend to protect. The manufacturer also rates the LFP battery for 6,000 cycles; cycle-life ratings are a specification, not a guarantee of a particular service life under every pattern of use. Ampace’s launch announcement states the cycle and UPS figures.

What solar panel works with the Andes 1500?

The station’s maximum solar input is 600W. Ampace estimates a 3–5 hour solar charge with a suitable panel, but actual charging depends on sunlight and conditions. The manual says the solar panel, solar charging cable and MC4 adapter cable are sold separately. Before buying, confirm that the panel and cables match the station’s input requirements and that the complete setup does not exceed the 600W limit. Ampace’s product page gives the input ceiling and estimate; the manual identifies the separately sold accessories.

Size, temperature limits and expansion

The manual lists a weight of 16.7kg (36.8lb) and dimensions of 436 × 195 × 335mm (17.2 × 7.7 × 13.2in). That is portable in the sense that it can be moved, but it is substantial for frequent carrying. The stated operating and charging temperature range is −20°C to 45°C (−4°F to 113°F). The manual also lists UL and FCC certification.

Ampace describes an expansion ecosystem starting at 3.6kWh and reaching 25kWh with additional units, extra batteries and smart generators. Those figures describe possible configurations, not the capacity of the standalone Andes 1500. Compatible products and availability can change, so check that the exact components you plan to use are supported and currently offered. Ampace’s feature page describes the expansion range.

Who should consider the Andes 1500?

Its strongest case is a buyer who values fast AC recharging, needs a 2,400W-rated inverter and can use a 1,462Wh battery for selected backup loads, work or camping. TechRadar’s August 9, 2025 review describes using it for desk backup, light camping, mower and tool recharging, and computer setups, positioning it between larger home-backup systems and lighter mobile stations. TechRadar’s review reports those use cases.

It is less compelling if your priority is minimum carry weight, if your loads exceed its inverter limits, or if you expect the advertised runtime examples to apply unchanged to your equipment. For a purchase decision, compare the exact loads you need to support, charging options, accessory costs and the availability of any expansion components you intend to add.
