To remove offline songs from your device, open Amazon Music and go to Settings > Downloads > Remove Download. This removes the downloaded copy and frees device storage; it does not delete the song from your Amazon Music Library. Purchased songs also cannot currently be removed from the Purchased view through the app or Amazon Customer Service.
Remove downloaded music from your device
- Open the Amazon Music app.
- Go to Settings > Downloads > Remove Download.
Amazon identifies this as its download-management path. The downloaded copy is removed from the device, but the Library item remains. The action is for managing offline downloads, not deleting a song from your account.
What happens if the song was purchased?
Amazon says purchased songs cannot currently be removed from the Purchased view on Android, iOS, or the Web Player, and Customer Service cannot remove them from that view either. Removing a download does not change this: it clears the device copy, while the purchased listing remains.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Find purchased music
- Android, iOS, or Web Player: Open Library, scroll the category buttons along the top to Purchased, and select it. Purchased music is no longer automatically included in the mobile and web Songs and Albums categories.
- PC or Mac: Go to Library > Music, then choose Songs or Albums and open Purchased.
Why a file manager or cable will not remove subscription downloads
Amazon says subscription downloads are accessible only in the Amazon Music app. They cannot be exported for use in other apps, copied to CDs, or copied to external storage. Use the in-app download setting rather than looking for a music file to delete through a cable, SD card, or file manager.

If a song is unavailable offline
A grayed-out song or a download that no longer works can have several possible causes. Amazon lists catalog removal, an expired or canceled membership, certain plan changes, not using the app while connected to Wi-Fi in the past month, and an app update that requires downloads again. These are possibilities, not a diagnosis of a particular account.
