The Alienware AW3926QW is a 39-inch curved OLED gaming monitor built around a sharp 5120×2160 image at 165 Hz, with a lower-resolution 330 Hz mode for games where refresh matters more than detail. It is a strong fit if you want an immersive ultrawide screen and can accommodate its size; desk space, room reflections, and your preferred balance of resolution and speed are the main reasons to look elsewhere.
What the Alienware AW3926QW offers
Dell markets model AW3926QW as the Alienware 39 5K OLED Gaming Monitor. RTINGS describes it as a curved, glossy 39-inch OLED with a native resolution of 5120×2160 and an RGB subpixel layout. That combination aims to deliver a wide, detailed image with OLED contrast, rather than maximize refresh at the highest resolution.
The native resolution and 165 Hz refresh rate are linked: the display runs at 5120×2160 at up to 165 Hz. Its alternate 330 Hz mode uses a lower resolution. The choice is practical, not merely a spec-sheet toggle: use native mode when detail and workspace matter, and consider the faster mode when a game benefits more from high refresh than from the full pixel count. Check the monitor’s on-screen settings and the game’s available resolution options when switching modes.

| Mode | Resolution | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| Native mode | 5120×2160 at up to 165 Hz | Detailed visuals, broad desktop workspace, and games where image sharpness is a priority |
| High-refresh mode | Lower resolution at up to 330 Hz | Games where a higher refresh rate matters more than native-resolution detail |
These are different operating modes, not simultaneous benefits: 330 Hz is not available at the native 5120×2160 resolution. PC Gamer notes that 165 Hz at native resolution is below the 240 Hz commonly available on 32-inch 4K OLED monitors. That is a comparison between different screen sizes, resolutions, and refresh targets—not proof that one category is universally better. If high refresh at full resolution is your priority, this particular trade-off may not suit you.

Is the screen good for text and everyday work?
RTINGS identifies an RGB subpixel layout and says it is intended to reduce fringing around letters compared with some OLED layouts that use a dedicated white subpixel. This design can help text look cleaner, but it is not a guarantee that every person, app, or viewing distance will produce perfect text. If you will use the display for long work sessions, consider how a 39-inch curved ultrawide fits your usual applications and viewing position as well as how it looks in games.
Will the 39-inch screen fit your desk?
The size is a real setup consideration, not a detail to leave until delivery. Tom’s Guide says comfortable use calls for a relatively large desk. Before buying, measure the usable desk width and depth, and check that you can sit far enough back to take in the screen without an awkward viewing position. Also account for any stand or other desk equipment that competes for space.
Rank #2
- QD-OLED technology enables stunningly rich color and clarity, while QHD resolution (2560x1440) provides high level of detail.
- 360Hz refresh rate translates to superb motion clarity, empowering players to see and react to in-game situations at high speed.
- 0.03 ms gray-to-gray minimum response time** virtually eliminates blurring and ghosting and keeps latency to an absolute minimum.
- Infinite contrast ratio and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 make for deep blacks and stunning brights, all in the same scene.
- Excellent color performance with DCI-P3 99.3% color coverage and Delta E<2 accuracy for true-to-life visuals.
A large screen can make games and side-by-side windows feel more immersive, but it also occupies more of your field of view than a smaller monitor. If your desk is compact or your viewing position is fixed close to the screen, a smaller display may be a more comfortable match.
How will the glossy finish behave in your room?
The AW3926QW has a glossy screen. RTINGS says the glossy finish produces clearer images, while the matte coating on the LG 39GX950B-B reduces glare better. Those differences matter most when windows or lamps are visible in the screen: think about where light sources sit relative to your desk, and whether you can reposition the monitor or manage the light. A glossy panel is not automatically a problem in every room, but strong, unavoidable reflections are a reason to be cautious.

- INFINITELY IMMERSIVE: Quantum Dot Display Technology enables a slim panel design and delivers a superior color performance with a higher peak luminance and greater color gamut range vs WOLED (White OLED) by taking the impressive qualities of OLED (such as true blacks & infinite contrast ratio) and enhances color performance by directly converting blue light into the primary colors of red and green through a Quantum Dot pixel layer.
- STUTTER-FREE SPEED: Experience ultra-low latency gameplay, support for HDR and cinematic color, plus smooth, tear-free gaming thanks to AMD FreeSync Premium Pro Technology and VESA AdaptiveSync Display certification.
- IMPECCABLE DESIGN: The jaw-dropping new design features a sleek QD-OLED curved 1800R panel integrated into the iconic new Legend 2.0 ID, plus customizable RGB AlienFX lighting, 360° ventilation for better heat dissipation, improved cable management and a new centralized OSD 5-Axis joystick to make adjusting your settings easier. The height adjustable stand with height markers and the tilt, swivel, and slant capabilities allow for easy viewing adjustment.
- FOR CRITICAL CREATING: For content creators and game developers who require precise color-critical work, the new Creator Mode feature was designed for you. This OSD menu option allows you the flexibility to choose between the native (DCI-P3) and the sRGB color space, depending on your work needs, and the ability to adjust the gamma settings.
- QUALITY ASSURANCE GUARANTEED: The new Alienware 34 Curved QD-OLED Gaming Monitor comes with improved OLED reliability and a 3-year premium warranty, including coverage for OLED burn-in, for additional peace of mind.
What reviewers say—and what that verdict means
Independent reviewers have been enthusiastic, but their awards and rankings reflect their own review criteria rather than a universal ranking across every OLED monitor, budget, and room. TechSpot used “The 39-Inch OLED to Buy” as its review headline. Tom’s Guide reviewer Tony Polanco described it as “Alienware’s finest gaming monitor yet” in a review published 27 August 2026. Tom’s Hardware also marked its review, published 27 August 2026, Editor’s Choice; that is the publication’s award, not a standards-body certification.
Together, those judgments support treating the AW3926QW as a highly regarded option for a particular kind of buyer: someone who values a large, detailed OLED image and accepts the native-refresh and physical-size trade-offs. They do not establish that it is the best choice for every player or use.

How it compares with nearby alternatives
LG 39GX950B-B
RTINGS’ comparison highlights different priorities rather than a simple winner. It says the Alienware’s RGB arrangement reduces letter fringing relative to the LG’s white-subpixel layout, and that the Dell has better bright-color volume. It also says the LG’s matte finish reduces glare better, while the Dell’s glossy screen produces clearer images. Which is more useful depends on your room and how much you care about text rendering and bright colors.

Alienware AW3426DW
RTINGS identifies the AW3426DW as a smaller, lower-resolution alternative. It may be worth considering if the 39-inch AW3926QW would overwhelm your desk or viewing position, but compare the models’ full specifications and regional availability before deciding. Prices and stock can change, and the reviewed information does not establish a current price winner.

- Look carefully at your lighting if windows or lamps create strong reflections where you plan to place the monitor.
- Compare other categories if your priority is a higher refresh rate at full resolution, or if you want a smaller display.
