Airbus completed its acquisition of German cybersecurity company INFODAS on 5 September 2024, following the regulatory approvals required for the deal. INFODAS became an Airbus subsidiary and said it would retain its brand and business operations.
Did Airbus buy INFODAS?
Yes. Airbus announced an agreement to acquire INFODAS on 25 March 2024, then confirmed completion on 5 September 2024. The original announcement said the transaction was subject to customary regulatory approvals and was expected to close before the end of 2024; Airbus later said the required approvals had been obtained. Airbus’s March 2024 announcement and completion release document the two stages.
After closing, INFODAS became an Airbus subsidiary. INFODAS said it would keep its branding and business operations, rather than disappear as a separate operating business. INFODAS’s completion announcement describes that arrangement.

Airbus reported that INFODAS had around 250 employees and annual revenues of about €50 million when it announced the agreement in March 2024. Those are approximate company figures given by Airbus at that time, not the purchase price or a current financial statement. The announcement is available in Airbus’s release.
Why did Airbus acquire INFODAS?
Airbus said the acquisition would strengthen its cybersecurity portfolio for European and global customers. The company linked that goal to rising cyber threats and the increasing digitalization and connectivity of defence and aerospace products and systems, including the Future Combat Air System (FCAS). This is Airbus’s stated strategic rationale, not an independent assessment of the deal’s results.
Karen Florschuetz, Executive Vice President of Connected Intelligence at Airbus Defence and Space, said: “This acquisition supports Airbus’ strategic ambition to strengthen its cybersecurity portfolio for the benefit of its European and global customers.” Airbus published the statement in its 5 September 2024 completion release.
What is known about INFODAS product approvals?
Airbus said the INFODAS SDoT Security Gateway family was approved for classification levels up to secret, with products certified under Common Criteria and additional country-specific certificates. INFODAS’s March 2024 announcement named approvals up to Germany’s GEHEIM, EU SECRET, and NATO SECRET. These claims apply to specified products and approvals; they should not be read as meaning every INFODAS product, configuration, or deployment has identical certifications or authorization in every jurisdiction.
