Manastones socket into weapons and armor, while Soulstones are for accessories. “Upgrading” can mean acquiring a higher-grade stone or improving the gear itself, but current guides do not establish a way to upgrade an already socketed stone in place.
What Manastones do—and where they go
Manastones add rolled stats to weapons and armor. Soulstones are a separate item family for accessories, as described by Aion 2 Maps’ guide, updated October 2, 2026, and the Xtopolis Manastones/Soulstones reference. Check the item tooltip and socket on the piece of equipment before spending a stone; the two families are not interchangeable.
Stone grade is different from stat quality
Grade describes the stone and the pool of stats it may roll. Quality describes the result on an individual socket row. The current, unofficial Xtopolis reference reports the following pool sizes and quality odds. These are reported reference values, not independently verified NC rates; the official NC Aion 2 Probability Information portal lists a Manastone/Soulstone category, but its dynamic table was not readable for direct comparison.

All figures in the table are from the current Xtopolis reference; the page does not make them official NC-confirmed rates. The stat pool counts are not a cap on the number of stats an item receives. They count the eligible stat choices for that stone grade. Xtopolis reports core choices such as Attack, Defense, Accuracy Bonus, Evasion Bonus, Critical Hit, Critical Hit Resist, Block, HP, and MP. It lists damage-related options—including Damage Boost, Weapon Damage Boost, Critical Damage Boost, Back Attack Damage Boost, and Frontal Attack Damage Boost—for Superior stones. Abyssal variants add PvP options such as PvP Attack and PvP Defense. Exact availability depends on stone type and grade, so use the current in-game tooltip for the particular item.

How a stat roll works, and whether stats can repeat
Xtopolis describes each row as two rolls: the game first selects a stat from that stone’s pool, then selects the quality for that stat. The reference says rows roll independently, so separate rows can produce the same stat. A weapon with four rows can therefore receive four separate outcomes—including duplicates—from one engraving.
For one example, Xtopolis lists a Superior Manastone Attack result as +3 Basic, +5 Superior, or +10 Ultimate. It gives Attack a 10% stat-selection chance and Basic quality a 50% chance, making that exact Basic Attack result 5% per row under its table (10% × 50%). This is an example from an unofficial reference, not a rate independently confirmed by NC. Aion 2 Maps also describes stones as adding a rolled stat, but its tier terminology and figures do not map one-to-one to Xtopolis’s Basic, Superior, and Ultimate labels; do not combine the systems as if they were identical.

Choosing a stone for the gear and activity
- Match the family to the slot: use Manastones for weapons or armor and Soulstones for accessories.
- Choose by grade and stat pool: a higher grade may open more stat options and quality outcomes, but the resulting row is still a roll rather than a guaranteed stat.
- Decide whether Abyssal fits: the Xtopolis table includes PvP options on Abyssal stones; its Superior non-Abyssal pool includes listed damage-boost options.
- Consider how long you will keep the item: Aion 2 Maps says socketed stones do not survive gear transfer. Treat costly stones as an investment in gear you expect to keep, and confirm transfer behavior in your current client before committing valuable items.
- Check the current acquisition route: Xtopolis lists crafting for Superior stones and sources such as drops, vendors, and shops by grade. These routes can change with patches, so verify availability in your region and version.
There is no universal best stat established by these references: the right choice depends on class, build, whether the priority is PvE or PvP, and the item being socketed.
What “upgrading a Manastone” means
Equipment enhancement and Manastones are separate systems. DBAion2’s September 24, 2026 guide describes enhancement as raising base equipment stats, while stones add a random stat. The reviewed guides document acquiring or crafting higher-grade stones and socketing them; they do not establish an in-place rarity upgrade for a stone already socketed. If you mean stronger gear, look at the equipment enhancement system; if you mean a better Manastone result, the documented path is to obtain a different stone and socket it, not to assume an existing one can be upgraded in place.

Which older Aion rules should you ignore?
Do not assume historical Aion or Aion Classic mechanics apply to Aion 2. The current Aion 2 references here do not confirm older slot fasteners, socket-failure destruction, or legacy grade names. For exact rates, values, compatible slots, and acquisition options, rely on the current client and official disclosure where readable; fan-reference figures can vary or become outdated by patch, region, and client version.
