The most current AI tablet choices in India right now are Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+ on the Android side and iPads that support Apple Intelligence on the Apple side. Samsung has scheduled India availability for the S12 pair from October 7, 2026. Apple Intelligence on iPad depends on the exact model: it is limited to the iPad mini (A17 Pro) and iPad models with an M1 chip or later. This guide reflects Samsung’s October 1, 2026 announcement and Apple’s June 2026 compatibility statement, so confirm stock and feature availability on the day you buy.
The short answer
If you want the newest Samsung tablet with Galaxy AI and a pen in the box, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra or S12+ is the current option to evaluate. If you already use an iPhone, Mac, or Apple accessories, an iPad that meets Apple’s hardware threshold is the more natural choice. Neither is a universal winner. The right pick depends on your ecosystem, the model you can actually buy, and which features you will use every week.
Which Samsung tablets have Galaxy AI
Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+
Samsung India announced the S12 pair on October 1, 2026 and said both would be available in India starting October 7, 2026. Samsung positions the series as Galaxy AI productivity tablets. Both models use Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays, which Samsung rates at peak brightness up to 1600 nits. That figure is a manufacturer specification, not an independent measurement, and this guide does not include hands-on or battery testing.
Each model comes with an S Pen in the box, which matters if you plan to take handwritten notes or mark up documents. Samsung also announced bundled purchase offers and accessory deals for the launch. Those terms and stock levels are time-sensitive, so read the offer conditions on Samsung India’s store before you buy. Exact launch prices are not repeated here because prices change quickly and are set per storage and connectivity configuration.

Galaxy Tab S11
The Galaxy Tab S11 is the earlier Samsung option, and Samsung’s India product page still markets it around Galaxy AI. The page describes multimodal assistance for understanding content on screen, organising information, and creating material. It also highlights an enhanced DeX desktop-style mode, Gemini Live, and Drawing Assist.
Gemini Live needs an internet connection and a signed-in Google Account, according to the conditions Samsung lists. Treat the S11 as a capable Galaxy AI tablet, but check the footnotes on the product page for region-specific conditions before assuming any feature works for you.

Does iPad support Apple Intelligence?
Yes, but only on certain models. Apple’s June 2026 statement says Apple Intelligence in iPadOS 27 is available on the iPad mini (A17 Pro) and on iPad models with M1 or later. It does not say every iPad qualifies, so an older iPad that you already own should not be assumed to support these features.

Before you buy or rely on an iPad for AI work, check the following:
- Confirm the exact model and chip. An iPad mini must be the A17 Pro generation, and other iPads must have an M1 chip or later.
- Confirm the iPadOS version you will run. Apple ties these capabilities to iPadOS 27.
- Check that Apple Intelligence is offered in your language and region, since availability can vary by market.
- Check Pencil and keyboard compatibility by model on Apple’s India store, because accessories are not interchangeable across every iPad.
Other Android tablets
Google’s India Android tablet page promotes Circle to Search and productivity features such as split-screen use and drag-and-drop between compatible apps. These features depend on the device and software version, so a tablet that runs Android does not automatically have every feature Samsung describes. The price display on that Google page conflicts with manufacturer listings, so use Samsung’s and Apple’s own stores for prices.

Should you buy now or wait?
- Buy a Galaxy Tab S12 if you want a new Samsung tablet with Galaxy AI and an S Pen included, and you are comfortable buying at or shortly after the October 7 India launch.
- Consider a Galaxy Tab S11 if you want Galaxy AI features and the S12 pricing or availability does not suit you. Compare current prices and conditions before deciding.
- Choose an iPad if you already use iPhone, Mac, or Apple accessories and the model you are considering is an iPad mini (A17 Pro) or has an M1 chip or later.
- Hold off if you rely on Apple Intelligence but are looking at an older iPad, because that model is outside the stated eligibility.
Checks before you pay
- Verify the live price, storage option, and Wi-Fi or cellular version on the manufacturer’s India store.
- Read the offer terms for any bundle, exchange, or finance deal, including end dates and stock limits.
- Confirm the AI features you care about in your language and region, not only the headline claim.
- For an S12, confirm keyboard cover compatibility for the exact model before buying an accessory.
- Check the screen size and weight for how you plan to use the tablet, since an AI label says nothing about display size or portability.
