Media and entertainment companies are using AI for far more than generating images, video or music. A September 28, 2026, AI Weekly tracker counts 21 named cases spanning content creation, moderation, discovery, advertising, operations, children’s learning and venue security. But “deployment” covers different stages: some entries are pilots or announcements, some are described as in production, and some have reported outcomes. The tracker is an inventory, not an independent audit or a like-for-like measure of success.
How to read the 21-case tracker
AI Weekly’s September 28, 2026, roundup says 14 cases are in production or have results, seven have a reported outcome, and one was halted or reversed. These are the roundup’s own categories and counts, not independently verified assessments. A reported outcome may describe a company or media report; it does not by itself show that AI caused the result.
The cases below are grouped by the work being changed. Status and outcome language is kept specific: “pilot,” “announced,” “slated,” and “in production” are not interchangeable. The roundup links to individual reporting, but the source material available for this article does not provide those URLs, so claims are attributed by publisher or organization rather than linked.

TikTok: teen-safety changes and a halted or reversed case
AI Weekly’s roundup, citing CBS News reporting, describes changes required under an Alabama settlement: a non-personalized feed for teens, a two-hour daily usage cap, a midnight-to-6 a.m. restriction and stronger parental controls. The roundup reports a $100 million settlement payment and as much as $300 million more possible under specified conditions. It marks the case halted or reversed on September 25, 2026. These details describe the tracker’s account of a legal settlement and status; they should not be read as a description of current TikTok product features.

ARIA: chart eligibility for AI-generated songs
ARIA announced on August 25, 2026, that fully AI-generated songs would be excluded from its official charts from August 29, according to AI Weekly. The roundup says substantially human-made work may remain eligible when AI is used as a supporting tool. The distinction is between fully generated work and work where AI supports human creation, not a blanket exclusion of every track involving AI.
Apple Music: “Made With AI” labels
AI Weekly reports that Apple Music announced a mandatory “Made With AI” label on August 21, 2026, for tracks, compositions, artwork and music videos where generative AI played a material role. The policy concerns disclosure of material generative-AI involvement across several kinds of music-related content.
Spotify: identifying likely AI Persona accounts
On August 11, 2026, Spotify announced that it was deploying detection to identify and badge likely AI Persona artist accounts, and to exclude flagged content from personalized recommendations, as described by AI Weekly. “Likely” matters: the roundup describes a detection system, not a definitive test for whether an account or artist is AI-generated.

AI Weekly describes YouTube’s automated AI-generated-content detector and reports that it erroneously flagged a human-made Kurzgesagt video. The roundup also characterizes YouTube’s overturn rate as roughly below 1%. That figure is the roundup’s characterization, not an independently verified error rate here, and a single reported error does not establish how often other detection systems make mistakes.
TIDAL: tagging wholly AI-generated music
AI Weekly marks TIDAL’s system in production from June 29, 2026. The roundup describes detection and tagging of wholly AI-generated music, exclusion of those tracks from royalties, removal of artist impersonations and an AI listener badge. These are several separate functions—content identification, royalty eligibility, impersonation response and listener disclosure—rather than one general-purpose AI detector.

Design and creative production
Unit1: a pilot for virtual musician performances
AI Weekly reported on September 20, 2026, that Unit1 was piloting hyperrealistic musician avatars for live performances, with the aim of enabling simultaneous touring in multiple countries. This remains a pilot in the roundup; it is not evidence that virtual performances have replaced touring or achieved the intended scale.
Mirage: a 24-hour AI news show on X
The roundup describes Mirage running a 24-hour live AI news show on X using photorealistic avatars. It reports approximately $50,000 in token costs and difficulty maintaining coherent conversations, attributing those observations to the roundup and its linked report. The cost is specific to that reported project and is not a general price benchmark for AI video or live programming.
ByteDance: Seedance video and Seedream image models
AI Weekly lists ByteDance’s Seedance video and Seedream image-generation models across TikTok, CapCut and Dreamina as in production on August 18, 2026. The roundup does not provide a common measure of usage or impact across those products, so the listing establishes the reported production status, not a comparable performance result.
Netflix: generative AI in post-production
AI Weekly, citing reporting, says Netflix uses generative AI primarily in post-production work such as visual effects, animation and pre-visualization. The roundup reports that roughly 300 titles used generative AI during 2026. That approximate title count and its stated scope are attributed to the cited reporting; the count does not specify how much AI was used on each title or establish savings or creative impact.
What production-focused examples look like
Autodesk’s 2025 media and entertainment report offers additional workflow examples, separate from the AI Weekly tracker’s 21 cases. It describes Preymaker’s cloud-based collaborative creative workflows and AI-assisted iteration; Corridor Digital’s AI-assisted camera tracking, motion capture and lighting for virtual characters; and Boxel Studio’s markerless motion capture for creature animation on Superman & Lois. These examples illustrate uses inside production pipelines, but Autodesk’s report does not make them additional entries in the 21-case count.

YouTube: Custom Feeds and Ask YouTube
AI Weekly lists Custom Feeds and Ask YouTube as in production on September 23, 2026. YouTube’s official announcement says Custom Feeds let viewers create dedicated homepage tabs around interests, moods and routines, and that U.S. users on web, mobile and TVs would get access “soon.” That wording describes a planned or forthcoming rollout, not universal availability. The same post describes Ask YouTube as an interactive product-question experience that can present organized video recommendations and product-comparison tables.

AI Weekly lists Hasbro’s Hey Peppa Pig kid-safe voice experience, built using Personality AI’s generative AI, as in production on August 24, 2026. The listing identifies a children’s voice interaction product; it does not provide evaluation results or enough detail to assess its safety controls independently.
Amazon Fire TV: Alexa+ discovery and Ring feeds
The roundup says U.S. Fire TV devices were upgraded with Alexa+ for conversational discovery, Ring camera feeds and recommendations. It reports that Alexa+ users have nearly twice as many conversations as users of the prior Alexa. That is a reported usage comparison, not an independently assessed user outcome or proof that the change improved discovery.

MrBeast and Beast Industries: Gemini in video production
Google’s official post says its multi-year partnership with Beast Industries extends to Gemini and Google Health. It describes Gemini helping the crew identify dangers and navigate severe weather in a video project, as well as helping with stunt logistics. AI Weekly lists the creator deployment as announced September 2, 2026. This is an announcement of use, not measured evidence that Gemini improved safety.
Wrtn: OOC interactive AI entertainment
AI Weekly describes Wrtn’s OOC as an interactive AI entertainment platform deployed in North America. The roundup’s cited reporting says it reached $7.2 million in monthly revenue within three months of its May 2026 launch. The figure is reported revenue, not independently audited financial data in the material summarized here.

Pinterest: Performance+ advertising
AI Weekly says Pinterest’s Performance+ AI ad campaigns are in production at scale. The roundup reports that the system accounts for about 30% of lower-funnel revenue, that adopters increased lower-funnel spending at nearly twice the rate of non-adopters, and that Pinterest recorded a first $1 billion quarter with 18% year-over-year growth. These figures describe different things: attributed lower-funnel revenue, advertiser spending behavior and company-wide quarterly performance. The roundup does not establish that Performance+ caused the company’s revenue growth.

Sonos: voice assistant and MCP bridge
AI Weekly lists the Sonos 27 voice assistant and an MCP bridge for third-party agents as in production on September 1, 2026. The roundup’s linked source is a technology-news live report, so the listing should be treated as attributed reporting rather than independent product testing.
Warner Bros. Discovery: agentic advertising technology
The roundup describes Warner Bros. Discovery rebuilding advertising technology around agentic AI on AWS for media planning, forecasting, real-time optimization and measurement. It separately says a unified planning tool was slated for Q3. The described technology stack and the planned tool have different statuses: the latter should not be presented as an already completed rollout.
Netflix: announced mobile redesign
On April 17, 2026, Netflix announced a mobile redesign featuring a full-screen vertical video feed and generative AI to surface clip recommendations, according to AI Weekly. The tracker records an announcement, not evidence that the redesigned experience was fully rolled out.

Madison Square Garden: facial recognition and venue entry
AI Weekly reports that Madison Square Garden uses facial recognition to identify and bar attorneys pursuing litigation from entering the venue, and lists the case as in production on August 14, 2026. The reported use raises questions about biometric identification, access to venues and the treatment of people involved in litigation. The roundup alone does not establish the policy details or legal status, so more specific conclusions should be tied to the underlying reporting rather than inferred from the listing.
What industry-wide survey figures do—and do not—show
Autodesk’s 2025 media and entertainment report surveyed 1,670 leaders and experts across 23 countries, including respondents from advertising, publishing and graphic design, film and TV, and gaming. Its findings describe survey responses, not an audited census of AI deployments.
- 77% of respondents said their AI use in content creation was mature or very mature. This is self-reported maturity, not an independent assessment.
- 68% said their organizations had increased spending on AI and emerging technology over the prior three years.
- 72% planned to increase investment further over the next three years. That was stated intent at survey time, not confirmation that the spending later occurred.
- 56% said a lack of skilled workers was hindering growth.
Autodesk’s interviews also show one way a studio approached workforce adoption. Peter Tsonev, Head of Machine Learning and Technologies at Crafty Apes, described training show-specific teams to use AI tools and then teach colleagues, saying the approach helped teams move through shows faster and encouraged collaboration. He also said AI enabled content and visual-effects solutions that had not previously been possible. These are practitioner observations, not controlled measurements of productivity or quality.

The 21 entries span different work, stages and kinds of evidence. A useful comparison should keep those differences visible rather than ranking the cases as though they shared a single success measure.
- Function: distinguish creation and production from discovery, moderation, monetization, operations, education and security.
- Maturity: record whether a case is a pilot, announcement, planned tool, described production use, reported outcome or halted/reversed case.
- Evidence: separate company announcements and survey responses from secondary reporting and attributed tracker summaries.
- Outcome and measurement: ask what changed, who reported it, whether a method was stated, and whether the claim is about usage, revenue, spending, safety or another measure.
- Scope: retain geography, affected audience and date where stated; a U.S. product rollout or a pilot does not establish global availability.
- Risks: account for detection errors, disclosure and eligibility rules, child-facing interaction, and biometric access decisions where relevant.
On this evidence, the roundup supports a map of where AI is being applied and what organizations or reporters say about it. It does not support a cross-industry verdict about which deployment is most effective, or a claim that reported business results were caused by AI.
