The Silver Seas is an aquatic-themed expansion for Age of Wonders 4, announced for release on November 3, 2026. Paradox says it adds a Mercantile culture that can establish cities on land and sea, alongside new forms, tomes, pirate captains, ocean encounters and map features. It is one of four releases in Expansion Pass 4; the pass also includes Singer of Storms immediately and two expansions planned for 2027.
What The Silver Seas adds to Age of Wonders 4
Paradox’s product page describes a mix of strategic, map and customization content. These are announced features, not a report from hands-on play: the expansion is scheduled for November 3, 2026.
Mercantile culture and subcultures
The Mercantile culture is built around trade, alliances and rivalries, and is announced as able to found cities on both land and sea. It has two subcultures:
- Cartel: Uses information, manipulation and camouflaged smuggling routes.
- Barony: Represents trade princes and nobles who command armies and place bounties.
New forms and a society trait
The announced forms are Aqualon, near-human beings touched by the sea, and Sharkkin, described as monstrous aquatic warriors. The Children of the Waves society trait can transform a people into Merfolk.

Captains, wildlife and places to explore
