As of October 2026, SIUE publishes the clearest comparable total in this shortlist: $16,702.50 for its online M.S. in MIS with cybersecurity focus options, with tuition stated to include fees. MIU City University Miami lists $8,000 in tuition for its 36-credit online cybersecurity master’s, but also lists separate fees, so that figure is not an all-in total. Other schools publish per-credit rates or estimates that must be calculated or qualified. These are provisional cost comparisons for prospective 2027 students, not a definitive national ranking: schools show different tuition years and fee inclusions, and a complete set of 2027–28 prices is not established.

How to read this cost ranking

The programs below are ordered by the strongest published price evidence available, not by a standardized all-in cost calculation. A published program total is more directly comparable than a per-credit rate. Where a school gives only a rate and required credits, the estimated tuition is simple multiplication and excludes charges that the published rate does not include. It is not an official total.

The price check is dated October 2026. A 2027 start date does not mean the tuition shown is confirmed for the full 2027–28 academic year. Before applying, confirm the rate for the intended intake, degree requirements, and mandatory fees with the university.

1 MIU City University Miami, Master’s Degree in Cybersecurity: $8,000 tuition; $222 per credit 36 credits; online in English or Spanish MIU separately lists $300 in fees and a $400 graduation fee. The $8,000 is tuition, not the all-in cost. Its page lists a January 2027 start and an 18-month duration. Official program page
2 Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), online M.S. in MIS with cybersecurity focus: $16,702.50 total; $556.75 per credit 30 credit hours; online The page says the total includes fees. Cybersecurity management and cybersecurity analytics are focus options within an M.S. in MIS, not a degree titled simply M.S. in Cybersecurity. The page lists a January 16, 2027 start and says tuition may change without notice. Official program page
3 SUNY Empire State University, M.S. in Cybersecurity: $471 per credit; calculated tuition of $14,130–$15,543 30–33 credits; 100% online The range is calculated from the stated rate and credit range, before any unlisted or additional charges; it is not a published program total. Spring 2027 is listed as the next term. The page gives a December 4 application deadline, which applicants should confirm for their intended intake. Official program page
4 West Virginia University (WVU) Online, Cybersecurity M.S.: $805 per credit; calculated tuition of $24,150 30 credits; online and asynchronous, with synchronous office hours The multiplication is tuition before other charges, not an official total. The listing gives January 11, 2027 as the next start, eight-week courses, and a one-to-three-year duration. Official program listing
5 University of the Pacific, online M.S. in Cybersecurity: $1,318 per unit; calculated tuition of $39,540 30 units; online The calculated figure is the listed per-unit rate multiplied by 30 units. Separately, the university estimates $7,908–$15,816 per term for Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027, depending on enrollment load; this is not the full-program cost. The page warns that tuition and fees may change. Official tuition page
6 Hawai‘i Pacific University, online M.S. in Cybersecurity: estimated tuition of $44,490 30 credits; online This is the university’s 2026–27 estimate at $1,483 per credit and excludes fees. It is not a confirmed full 2027–28 price. Official program page

Programs that cannot be ranked on the available price figures

St. John’s University

St. John’s lists the online M.S. in Cyber Security and Information Systems among its online programs and gives a general online graduate rate of $1,000 per credit for Fall 2026–Spring 2027. The retrieved tuition information does not establish the degree’s total required credits, so a program tuition estimate cannot be responsibly calculated from that rate alone. #1 Best Overall

Franklin University and Northern Kentucky University

Franklin has online cybersecurity master’s offerings, and Northern Kentucky University describes its M.S. as 100% online and says tuition is the same for in-state and out-of-state students. The available official information does not provide enough comparable current pricing, including complete credits and rates, to place either in the cost order. What the figures do—and do not—tell you

Published total is not always total cost

SIUE explicitly says its $16,702.50 total includes fees. MIU’s $8,000 figure is tuition, with $300 in listed fees and a separate $400 graduation fee. The calculated figures for SUNY Empire, WVU, and Pacific multiply the posted rate by required credits or units; they exclude charges not included in the base rate. HPU’s stated estimate also excludes fees. Do not compare these amounts as though every school defines the total the same way.

Credit requirements affect the comparison

A lower per-credit price does not necessarily mean the lowest program tuition: the number of required credits matters. MIU, for example, lists 36 credits, while several other programs list 30. SUNY Empire’s 30–33-credit range produces a tuition range rather than one calculated amount. Check whether transfer credit, prerequisites, or individual study plans change the credits you would need; the pages cited here do not establish a common credit policy.

Confirm the schedule and degree title

These offers are not identical academic options. SIUE’s cybersecurity content is a focus within an M.S. in MIS, while the other ranked programs list cybersecurity master’s degrees. WVU specifies asynchronous coursework with synchronous office hours; SUNY Empire and MIU identify their programs as online. Review the course format and the exact credential title alongside price, especially if you need a particular schedule or degree designation.

How to verify your likely cost before applying

  1. Open the university’s current program and tuition pages. Confirm that the program is accepting students for your intended 2027 term and note the tuition schedule’s effective academic year.
  2. Confirm the credits or units you personally must complete. Use the program’s stated requirement, not a per-credit price alone. Ask whether prerequisites or transfer-credit decisions change that number.
  3. Ask for a written cost breakdown. Request tuition, mandatory fees, graduation charges, and any other required program charges for your planned course load. Confirm whether the published total already includes fees.
  4. Check the course calendar and delivery details. Verify start date, course length, synchronous commitments, and expected completion time against your work and personal schedule.
  5. Recheck immediately before enrollment. SIUE says tuition can change without notice, and Pacific warns that tuition and fees may change; published prices can also apply to a different academic year than your start.
