If your A&E activation code is rejected, first check where you entered it: TV-provider codes go to aetv.com/activate, while profile creation or syncing uses aetv.com/register. If the code is accepted but A&E sends you back to provider sign-in, troubleshoot the browser handoff or confirm that your TV package and provider credentials qualify.
1. Use the page that matches your code
A&E has separate destinations for provider activation and profile registration. A code shown while connecting a TV provider belongs at aetv.com/activate. Use aetv.com/register to create or sync an A&E profile across devices. Entering a code on the other page will not complete the intended task.
2. Retry provider sign-in in a regular browser window
When activation opens a provider sign-in, retry in a standard browser window rather than Chrome Incognito; A&E specifically advises against using Incognito for this flow. A&E lists Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Safari as supported browsers for its website.
3. Allow cookies, pop-ups, and redirects
Provider sign-in requires a handoff from A&E to your TV provider and back. If that redirect is blocked, the sign-in can loop or fail even when the code is correct. A&E’s Chrome instructions say to allow cookies for play.aetv.com and permit pop-ups and redirects so authorization can be checked.

4. Check tracking and cross-site cookie settings
Privacy protections can block the cross-site authentication handoff. A&E documents these browser-specific adjustments; exact labels may vary by browser version:
- Firefox: Turn off Enhanced Tracking Protection for the A&E site.
- Microsoft Edge: Allow cross-site cookies and use Basic or Balanced tracking prevention.
- Safari on Mac: Enable cookies and cross-site tracking.
- Safari on iPhone or iPad: Open Settings > Safari > Privacy & Security and review the Prevent Cross-Site Tracking setting.
After adjusting the relevant setting, reopen the activation page and try provider sign-in again.

5. Confirm the TV package and refresh provider credentials
A&E access to locked episodes requires a TV package that includes A&E. Internet-only or phone-only service does not qualify. To check whether your provider is supported, open a locked episode and review the provider sign-in list.

If the provider is absent from the sign-in list or your package does not include A&E, contact the provider about eligibility rather than repeatedly entering the code.

When the issue is Live TV availability, not activation
A successful provider sign-in does not guarantee that Live TV is available on every device or in every location. A&E’s support page lists Live TV in the U.S. on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Roku, Android TV, and Fire TV, as well as on the web at play.aetv.com/live after provider sign-in. The page says Live TV is not available in the A&E app for Samsung TVs or outside the U.S. These limits apply to Live TV; they should not be treated as a blanket statement about all on-demand content.
