Adobe’s Bluesky debut drew criticism from users over subscriptions, prices and generative AI. The company then deleted its introductory posts from its main account and Photoshop’s account. Contemporaneous reporting said the accounts remained on Bluesky, so the episode was a retreat from the launch posts—not evidence that Adobe permanently left the platform.
What happened on Adobe’s Bluesky debut?
Adobe joined Bluesky on April 8, 2025, with an introductory message for artists, designers and storytellers. It invited users to answer, “What’s fueling your creativity right now?” Adobe also created a Photoshop account. Instead of a routine exchange about creative work, the posts drew complaints about Adobe’s business and product decisions.
PetaPixel’s April 10, 2025 report said Adobe deleted the opening posts from both accounts. A Slashdot summary published April 12 reported more than 1,600 angry comments; that is a contemporaneous reported figure, not an independently audited count.
Why were users angry with Adobe?
The replies reflected several grievances that had built up beyond this particular social-media launch. PetaPixel’s contemporaneous account described criticism of Adobe’s move from perpetual licenses to subscriptions more than a decade earlier, perceived price increases, and its embrace of AI. Users also expressed dissatisfaction with how the company communicates with creative customers and with the value they feel they receive for the cost.

- Generative AI: Replies criticized Adobe’s support for AI-generated art, reflecting distrust of the company’s direction among some creators.
- Trust and perceived value: The launch prompt’s upbeat invitation landed in a setting where some users already felt unheard or dissatisfied with the cost and quality of the tools.
These were complaints voiced by people who chose to reply on Bluesky, not a representative survey of Adobe customers or creators generally. The episode does not establish that Adobe’s products objectively declined in quality, or that every creator opposes its AI tools. The available reporting also does not establish that Adobe trained models on every customer’s work.
Did Adobe delete its Bluesky account?
No account shutdown was reported. PetaPixel said the Adobe and Photoshop accounts remained on Bluesky when it published its article, even though their introductory posts had disappeared. The evidence supports saying Adobe deleted its launch posts or pulled back from its debut—not that it permanently abandoned Bluesky, closed its accounts or was banned.

The reporting does not establish why Adobe removed the posts, whether it formally paused a broader Bluesky strategy, or whether it later resumed posting. Nor does it show that the backlash changed Adobe’s business strategy or caused measurable subscription cancellations or revenue effects.
Why did a routine marketing prompt become a flashpoint?
The prompt itself was an ordinary invitation to discuss creativity. The reaction suggests that users read it through their existing views of Adobe: a friendly community message met unresolved frustration about subscriptions, pricing and AI. In that sense, the post appears to have acted as a trigger for accumulated dissatisfaction rather than being the root cause of it. That is an interpretation of the response, not a measured finding about Adobe’s intent or users’ motives.

Bluesky also gave respondents a public place to address the company directly. A brand can invite conversation, but it cannot determine whether users answer the question it intended to ask. Deleting launch posts may end that particular thread; it does not by itself answer the complaints that surfaced there.
What the episode does—and does not—show
- It shows that Adobe’s initial posts encountered substantial public criticism and that both the Adobe and Photoshop launch posts were reported as deleted.
- It does not show that Adobe permanently left Bluesky, that all creators share the views expressed in replies, or that the company changed its products or policies because of the backlash.
- It is best understood as a difficult brand introduction that exposed existing tensions, rather than a dispute shown to be about Bluesky’s rules or a platform-specific policy violation.
Considering alternatives? Compare workflows, not just prices
The Bluesky episode is not, on its own, a reason to switch software. If Adobe’s cost or direction has you reviewing your tools, start with the applications you actually use. Replacing one part of a workflow may be practical; replacing a suite built around shared files, plug-ins and established handoffs can be a larger project.

Before moving a professional workflow, check file compatibility, plug-ins, fonts, presets, automation, collaboration and required deliverables. Calculate the total cost for the tools and billing periods you would actually use; current prices and plan details vary and are not established by the reporting on this Bluesky incident. Keeping Adobe for indispensable applications while replacing only tools with workable substitutes can be more realistic than expecting one product to replace an entire suite.
