Apple’s A17 Pro is newer and posts higher Geekbench 6 averages than A15 Bionic phones in the available device chart, but those results compare different iPhone models—not the chips under identical test conditions. A17 Pro powers iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. A15 Bionic appears in models including iPhone 13, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, with GPU configurations that vary by phone.

In the Geekbench Browser chart snapshot accessed on October 7, 2026, iPhone 15 Pro Max with A17 Pro averaged 2,532 for CPU and 6,872 for GPU. iPhone 14 with A15 Bionic averaged 2,076 for CPU and 5,367 for GPU. These are live chart aggregates, not a 2026 annual study, and the chart does not promise a particular result for an individual phone.

Geekbench says its chart data come from user-submitted Geekbench 6 results. The comparison is useful for understanding how those phone models perform in the listed tests, but it does not isolate the silicon: the phones differ, and cooling, software, battery condition and test conditions can influence results. CPU and GPU scores also describe different workloads, so neither pair should be turned into a universal percentage uplift for every task.
How to read A17 Pro vs A15 Bionic benchmark comparisons
- Check that the score is for Geekbench 6, then note the exact iPhone model next to it.
- Compare CPU results with CPU results and GPU results with GPU results; they are not interchangeable measures.
- Check which A15 phone is being discussed, since A15 GPU core count varies by model.
- Treat chart averages as sample-based device results, not guaranteed performance or a chip-only laboratory comparison.
A secondary comparison from NanoReview reports Geekbench 6 sample scores of 2,969 single-core and 7,599 multi-core for A17 Pro, versus 2,315 and 5,753 for A15 Bionic. The retrieved information does not establish a matched-phone controlled protocol for those figures, so device-specific Geekbench Browser averages are the clearer reference here.

Which chip should guide a phone choice?
The scores support a straightforward conclusion about these listed devices: iPhone 15 Pro models have higher Geekbench 6 CPU and GPU averages than the cited A15 phones. They do not, on their own, determine which phone is the better buy or how a particular app will feel. Apple’s device comparisons also show differences in cameras, displays, battery claims and other handset features.
When choosing between actual phones, compare the same practical details for each listing: price, storage, physical condition, battery state, camera and display needs, and software support. A chip name cannot substitute for checking the whole device and its specific configuration.
