There is no clean winner in the latest reported figures. Micron reported $133.188 billion in revenue for fiscal 2026, while Samsung and SK hynix reported results for calendar Q2 2026. Samsung’s headline totals cover the whole company, not just memory; SK hynix’s are preliminary consolidated results; and Micron’s fiscal year does not line up with the South Korean companies’ quarter. The clearest comparison is therefore what each company disclosed about its business, products and reporting period—not a simple revenue ranking.
How do Micron, Samsung and SK hynix compare?
The table separates reported company-wide or consolidated figures from memory-specific disclosures. The periods, currencies and scopes differ, so the figures should not be read as an apples-to-apples ranking of memory businesses.
| Company | Reporting period | Reported revenue and profit | What the figures cover |
|---|---|---|---|
| Micron Technology | Fiscal Q4 and FY2026; fiscal Q4 ended September 3, 2026 | Fiscal Q4 revenue: $54.229 billion. FY2026 revenue: $133.188 billion. | Micron consolidated results. Its fiscal Q4 release also reports four business-unit revenue figures; it does not make the fiscal-year period equivalent to calendar Q2. |
| Samsung Electronics | Calendar Q2 2026; quarter ended June 30, 2026 | Consolidated revenue: KRW 171.5 trillion; operating profit: KRW 89.5 trillion. Device Solutions division revenue: KRW 127.5 trillion; operating profit: KRW 89.2 trillion. | The first pair is company-wide and the second is for the Device Solutions division. Samsung described a record quarter for its Memory Business but did not state a separate memory-only revenue figure in the cited release. |
| SK hynix | Calendar Q2 2026; quarter ended June 30, 2026 | Revenue: KRW 79.3187 trillion; operating profit: KRW 60.5426 trillion; operating margin: 76%. | Preliminary, consolidated results under K-IFRS, as identified in the company’s Q2 release. |
Micron’s figures are in U.S. dollars; Samsung’s and SK hynix’s are in Korean won. No dated exchange-rate basis is available here, so converting the figures would add a comparison assumption. Nor does a high company-wide or divisional profit establish the profitability of a memory segment when that segment’s results are not separately disclosed.
Which memory company is biggest?
These disclosures do not establish which company has the largest memory business. Micron’s $133.188 billion is a full fiscal-year company figure; Samsung’s KRW 171.5 trillion is for the entire company over one calendar quarter; and SK hynix’s KRW 79.3187 trillion is a preliminary consolidated quarterly figure. Those amounts differ in period, currency and scope.

Samsung’s release does report Device Solutions division results and says the Memory Business set quarterly revenue and operating-profit records, but it does not give a separate memory revenue number in the cited discussion. Micron provides more detail by business unit for fiscal Q4. SK hynix reports consolidated quarterly revenue and profit. These are useful descriptions of what each company chose to disclose, not a standardized measurement of memory-business size.
What does Micron’s latest report show?
Micron’s September 30, 2026 release reported record fiscal-year revenue of $133.188 billion and fiscal Q4 revenue of $54.229 billion. The quarter ended September 3, so the Q4 figure is not aligned to the June 30 quarter reported by Samsung and SK hynix.

Fiscal Q4 business-unit revenue
| Micron business unit | Fiscal Q4 2026 revenue |
|---|---|
| Cloud Memory | $16.283 billion |
| Core Data Center | $18.002 billion |
| Mobile and Client | $13.114 billion |
| Automotive and Embedded | $6.824 billion |
The four reported unit figures total $54.223 billion, $6 million below Micron’s stated consolidated Q4 revenue. The release does not explain that difference in the figures summarized here, so it should not be assigned to a unit or treated as a separate business line.
Micron says it supplies DRAM, NAND and NOR. Its reported product milestones included sampling 512GB DDR5 RDIMMs, qualifying high-speed server RDIMMs, growing SOCAMM server-memory products, and PCIe Gen 5 and Gen 6 SSD products for customer applications. These are company-reported milestones, not independent comparative benchmarks. CEO Sanjay Mehrotra said the company expected an even stronger fiscal 2027; that is management’s expectation, not an established outcome.

What does Samsung’s latest report show?
Samsung’s July 30, 2026 release reported Q2 consolidated revenue of KRW 171.5 trillion and operating profit of KRW 89.5 trillion. The Device Solutions division reported KRW 127.5 trillion in revenue and KRW 89.2 trillion in operating profit. Neither set of figures should be labeled as Memory Business-only results.
The company said its Memory Business achieved record quarterly revenue and operating profit, with a focus on server products amid limited capacity. It also said it scaled HBM4 sales and shipped HBM4E samples to major customers. The release gives no separate memory-only revenue figure in the cited discussion, and its descriptions of demand and capacity are Samsung’s account and outlook—not independent confirmation of future supply or performance.

What does SK hynix’s latest report show?
SK hynix’s July 29, 2026 release reported Q2 revenue of KRW 79.3187 trillion, operating profit of KRW 60.5426 trillion and a 76% operating margin. These are preliminary consolidated figures under K-IFRS, not a separately stated memory-segment margin.
The company attributed profitability to sales of high-value HBM, AI-server DRAM and enterprise SSDs. It said it began mass shipments of HBM4 in Q2 and planned to ramp production in the second half. It also discussed SOCAMM2 and 321-layer NAND products. Shipment status and product positioning here are management-reported; the release does not establish comparative market share or customer qualification beyond what it states.

Who leads in HBM?
The releases show that HBM is central to the companies’ current positioning, but they do not establish an overall HBM leader. SK hynix reported beginning HBM4 mass shipments in Q2. Samsung said it scaled HBM4 sales and shipped HBM4E samples to major customers. These are different product and status disclosures, not a like-for-like measure of volume, market share, customer wins or performance.
Micron’s cited release reports results across its business units and describes several memory and storage milestones, but the facts summarized here do not provide a comparable HBM shipment or market-share figure for Micron. The available company releases are not enough to rank the three suppliers’ HBM positions or predict who will win future supply.
How should you interpret the companies’ outlooks?
All three companies connect their current positioning to AI-server or HBM demand. That makes AI-related memory a useful lens for understanding their announcements, but corporate releases are not independent evidence that demand growth, constrained supply or current margins will persist.
- Separate reported results from forecasts. Micron’s expectation for fiscal 2027, Samsung’s discussion of demand and supply, and SK hynix’s planned production ramp are management statements, not completed results.
- Compare like with like. Align the reporting period, currency, accounting basis and business scope before interpreting revenue or profit differences.
- Do not infer market leadership from product announcements. A sample, a reported sale or a mass-shipment milestone does not by itself establish relative volume, market share or customer qualification across suppliers.
What is the fairest conclusion?
Micron offers a fiscal-year total and a detailed fiscal-quarter breakdown by business unit. Samsung reports the largest headline revenue in its cited release, but that number covers the whole company and cannot be compared directly with memory-only results; its release does not state a separate Memory Business revenue figure. SK hynix reports strong preliminary consolidated Q2 results and a 76% operating margin, but that margin is not a memory-segment-only measure. The current releases show all three companies positioning around AI-server memory and HBM, without enough comparable evidence to declare one the biggest memory business or the HBM leader.
