Zong recorded faster national download speeds than Jazz in both the Q4 2025 PTA–Opensignal benchmark and the newer Q2 2026 national 4G comparison. But the title’s 18.60 Mbps figure is the Q4 2025 average across all devices—not either operator’s score—and “coverage” depends on which measure you mean. These national results are useful for comparing networks, not a guarantee of service at a particular address.
Which network was faster: Zong or Jazz?
In the Q4 2025 PTA–Opensignal benchmark, Zong’s national Download Speed Experience was 18.24 Mbps, compared with Jazz at 17.58 Mbps. ProPakistani reported those figures in 2026; Opensignal’s February 2026 report page independently shows the same results rounded to 18.2 Mbps and 17.6 Mbps.
The separate 18.60 Mbps figure is Pakistan’s national all-device download average for Q4 2025, as reported by ProPakistani. It is not Zong’s score, Jazz’s score, or a speed every customer should expect. ProPakistani also reported a 30.80 Mbps average for high-end devices, illustrating that device capability affects the measured result.
| Comparison | Zong | Jazz | What it measures |
|---|---|---|---|
| Q4 2025 national Download Speed Experience | 18.24 Mbps | 17.58 Mbps | Typical everyday mobile data download experience across each operator’s network; figures reported by ProPakistani in 2026, with rounded values corroborated by Opensignal. |
| Q2 2026 national 4G download speed | 18.55 Mbps | 17.61 Mbps | National 4G figures reported by ProPakistani in 2026; distinct from the Q4 all-network Download Speed Experience results. |
The Q2 2026 figures point in the same direction, but they are a different reporting period and measure: national 4G download speed. ProPakistani reported the national all-device 4G average for that period as 18.9 Mbps. Do not combine Q4 and Q2 values as if they came from one test.

What does “coverage” mean in this comparison?
Coverage Experience and Time on Network are different measures, and they do not produce the same winner. In its February 2026 report, Opensignal’s Coverage Experience score was higher for Jazz than for Zong. The Q4 2025 results reported by ProPakistani put Zong’s national Time on Network at 96.47%—the share of time users were connected to the network, on average. That connection-time result does not establish that Zong has the broadest geographic coverage everywhere.
For a local buying decision, a national score cannot tell you whether reception is reliable inside your home, workplace, or usual travel route. City-level differences matter too: in Q4 2025, Jazz and Zong each led download speed in five of the ten major metropolitan areas summarized by ProPakistani. The reported fastest city results were 20.61 Mbps for Jazz in Quetta and 20.63 Mbps for Zong in Multan.

How the benchmark was measured
The Q4 2025 benchmark covered October 1 through December 29, 2025. ProPakistani reported more than 1.25 billion measurements from real smartphone users across 161 districts over the 90-day period. The summary covered download and upload speed, video and games experience, and time on network. Opensignal describes Download Speed Experience as the typical everyday speed users experience across an operator’s mobile data networks.
For Q2 2026, reporting described a benchmark across 20 cities, with assessment of 5G presence alongside existing 4G experience. The Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) described sampling at indoor and outdoor locations and during peak and off-peak periods. The Q2 report characterizes early 5G results as indicative rather than conclusive for nationwide performance because coverage and the measured user base were limited.

PTA’s methodology was described in ProPakistani’s summary this way: “PTA noted that Opensignal’s methodology is based on real-world user experience rather than controlled network tests, reflecting actual conditions faced by consumers while using everyday mobile applications.”

- If download speed is your priority: the cited national results favor Zong in both periods, but your actual experience depends on where and how you use the network.
- If coverage is your priority: look for the exact coverage measure and check service where you need it. Time connected is not a substitute for geographic coverage or reliable indoor reception.
- If you use a particular city or route: national averages can hide local differences; the Q4 city results show Jazz and Zong each led in half of the ten cities summarized.
- If you are comparing 5G: treat the Q2 2026 early 5G findings as indicative, not as proof of nationwide availability or a settled performance ranking.
The benchmark is best read as a national comparison of measured user experience in a specified period. It can identify a broad advantage, but it cannot settle which SIM will work better at an individual address.
