Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is the stronger choice for performance, particularly graphics, when two phones are otherwise comparable. NanoReview’s compiled results show it ahead in AnTuTu 11, Geekbench 6, and two 3DMark graphics tests, though results vary by publisher and workload. Both platforms are listed as 4 nm, but that shared process label does not make them equal in speed or efficiency. A chipset score also cannot tell you how a particular phone performs under sustained load or whether it is the better buy.

Qualcomm’s modem download figures are theoretical platform maximums, not expected speeds on every phone. Carrier, network, supported bands, and handset implementation determine what is available to a buyer. Check the complete phone specification for regional network support. Details are listed on Qualcomm’s 7 Gen 3 platform page and 7s Gen 2 platform page.

Which chipset is faster?

In the benchmark sets cited here, the 7 Gen 3 leads in most overall, CPU, and graphics results. NanoReview reports an AnTuTu 11 score about 29% higher for the 7 Gen 3 than the 7s Gen 2, but this is an aggregate score from compiled device samples, not a guaranteed advantage in every phone or task. AnTuTu combines several aspects of performance; it is not a pure CPU measurement.

CPU results

NanoReview’s Geekbench 6 results favor the 7 Gen 3: 1,131 versus 1,015 in single-core and 3,111 versus 2,687 in multi-core. The stated maximum CPU clock is also higher for the 7 Gen 3, at up to 2.63 GHz versus up to 2.4 GHz. Clock speed alone does not establish sustained performance, since a phone’s cooling and software affect real-world behavior.

Graphics results

The largest gap in NanoReview’s listed tests is graphics. Its 3DMark Wild Life Extreme scores are 1,596 for the 7 Gen 3 and 792 for the 7s Gen 2; Steel Nomad Light scores are 490 and 254, respectively. These are results from the page’s compiled device samples, not universal guarantees for all phones using either chip. For gaming, the 7 Gen 3 is the stronger starting point, but handset cooling and sustained-load behavior still matter.

Not every workload follows the same pattern

NanoReview’s PCMark 3.0 results do not show a 7 Gen 3 lead: it lists 12,964 for the 7s Gen 2 and 12,486 for the 7 Gen 3, with different phone sample counts. That exception is a reason to treat synthetic tests as workload-specific evidence rather than a promise that one platform is faster at everything. See the NanoReview comparison for its listed tests and results.

Why benchmark numbers differ between comparison sites

91mobiles reports a different set of values: AnTuTu scores of 1,077,869 for the 7 Gen 3 and 851,360 for the 7s Gen 2, with Geekbench single-core/multi-core scores of 1,172/3,235 and 1,025/2,951. These results agree on the general direction, but not on the exact scores reported by NanoReview. Test versions, phones, and aggregation methods can differ, so do not average publisher totals or treat any one score as a fixed property of every device. The figures and comparison are on 91mobiles.

What Qualcomm’s launch claims do—and do not—show

In its November 17, 2023 announcement, Qualcomm said the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 enables “up to 2.63GHz peak CPU speeds, over 50% faster GPU performance, and 60% improved AI performance per watt.” Those are Qualcomm’s launch claims for the 7 Gen 3, not results from a direct 7 Gen 3 versus 7s Gen 2 test. The announcement is available from Qualcomm.

Which should you choose?

Choose a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 phone for performance headroom

If gaming or graphics performance is a priority and the phones are otherwise comparable and similarly priced, favor the 7 Gen 3. Its stronger results in the cited CPU and graphics comparisons make it the more compelling platform for that use case. Look for reviews of the exact phone that measure sustained performance rather than relying on a short benchmark run.

Compare the whole phone for everyday use

The available benchmark results do not establish that every everyday user will notice a material difference. Compare the actual handset’s price and region, RAM, software support, display, battery life, camera implementation, cooling, and network bands. A phone’s component choices and software can matter as much as its processor in a purchase decision. 91mobiles lists the vivo V50 among phones powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3; that example is not a matched comparison against a 7s Gen 2 phone, and availability and configuration depend on market.
