At Lens Fest in October 2025, Snap announced updates for Lens Studio, Snapchat games and AR monetization, alongside developer tools for Camera Kit and Spectacles. The announcement described a mix of introduced features, an item marked “coming soon,” and plans for later releases; it did not establish that every announced feature had shipped or that creators would earn a particular amount.
What changed for Lens Studio creators?
Snap named four Lens Studio updates: Realistic StyleGen, Enhanced FaceGen, Selfie Attachments and Glam & Glitter. It also announced conversational Lens Studio AI and Blocks, a set of modular AR components. These are product names and categories from Snap’s announcement; it did not provide enough detail there to infer capabilities or availability beyond those descriptions.
AI Clips had a clearer status: Snap labeled it “coming soon.” That is a planned feature in the Lens Fest announcement, not confirmation that it was available at the event or is available now.
What did Snap announce for Snapchat games?
Snap said more than 175 million people played Lens Games on Snapchat each month, and that the number of Snapchatters sharing games was up 130% year over year. These are figures Snap reported at Lens Fest in 2025, not independently verified measurements.

The announced game changes were:
- Games Chat Drawer: a new game-related chat feature.
- Expanded game components in the Asset Library: more components for developers to use when making games.
- Turn Based gameplay: a turn-based game option.
- Improved Leaderboards: an update to the leaderboard experience.
- Live multiplayer matchmaking: Snap said this was planned for the following year; the Lens Fest announcement did not present it as already available.
In its later Q3 2025 investor letter, Snap reported more than 180 million monthly game players and sharing up more than 100% year over year. Those are separate, later company-reported figures; they should not be combined with the Lens Fest numbers as though they came from one measurement.
How can Lens creators and developers earn?
Snap described several distinct routes, with different audiences and conditions. They are not equivalent payout programs, and none guarantees income.

| Route | Who it suits | What Snap described | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Public Snapchat Lenses | Creators building an audience on Snapchat | Lens Creator Rewards, expanded with Lens+ Payouts tied to engagement from Lens+ and Snapchat Platinum subscribers. | Snap described engagement-based payouts, not a fixed rate or guaranteed earnings. |
| Camera Kit | Developers or agencies building AR into apps, websites or other client experiences | A free SDK, with mandatory Snap branding removed, according to Snap’s announcement and Q3 letter. | “Free” refers to Camera Kit as described by Snap; it does not establish that every project, service or integration has no cost. Paid client work is a possible business model, not a Snap payout program. |
| Spectacles and Commerce Kit | Selected creators making experiences for Spectacles | Commerce Kit would let selected creators take payments within Lenses for digital goods or premium features. | Access was described as selective. The announcement did not promise earnings or say every developer could use the feature. |
In a November 2025 developer monetization overview, Snap framed public Lenses as an audience-building route, exclusive Lenses as a possible revenue option, Camera Kit as a client-work tool, and Spectacles commerce as a product path. That is Snap’s commercial guidance, not independent evidence of creator earnings.
What did Snap say about Camera Kit?
Snap said Camera Kit would remain free and that mandatory Snap branding had been removed. The Lens Fest announcement also reported more than 68 million monthly active users for Camera Kit in Q3 2025. This is Snap’s own reported figure; the announcement does not establish independent verification or define the measurement beyond that description.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Snap’s Q3 2025 investor letter described Camera Kit as a free SDK for app, web and AR mirror experiences. For a developer, the relevant distinction is that Camera Kit supports bringing Snap AR into a separate client experience; it is not the same distribution or monetization route as publishing a Lens on Snapchat.
What were the Spectacles and Snap OS announcements?
Snap introduced Snap OS 2.0 with a redesigned operating system, a browser with WebXR support, UI Kit and Mobile Kit. It also described Travel Mode and EyeConnect. The Lens Fest announcement identified these as Snap OS features, but the material cited here does not specify a separate release date or availability conditions for each one.

For developers building richer Spectacles experiences, Snap Cloud—built with Supabase—was described as providing developer APIs, edge functions, secure storage and real-time capabilities. The announcement identifies Supabase as the technology partner; it does not establish that every related project or service is free.
Snap said public Specs were planned for 2026. That was a future plan stated in the 2025 announcement, not proof of a consumer launch. The 2025 announcement and Q3 investor letter do not confirm whether public Specs had launched by October 5, 2026.

In its official Lens Fest recap, Snap AR said that more than 400,000 developers had built more than 4 million Lenses over the platform’s first decade. The recap also said 76 developers took part in the Lensathon, split between Spectacles and Snapchat Games tracks. These are Snap’s own ecosystem figures.
Snap CTO and co-founder Bobby Murphy said in the recap: “Our mission has always been to build technology that brings people closer together — and you, our developers, make that possible every single day.” The statement reflects Snap’s stated purpose for the developer community; it is not an assessment of the announcements’ results.
What Lens Fest 2025 establishes—and what it does not
Lens Fest presented a broader set of tools and possible business models for creators and developers: updates for making Lenses, additions to social gaming, subscriber-engagement payouts, client integrations through Camera Kit, and selective commerce features for Spectacles. The practical choice depends on where an experience will run, how it might earn revenue, and whether the relevant feature is available or only planned.
All figures and product claims above are attributed to Snap’s October 2025 Lens Fest announcement, its official event recap, its Q3 2025 investor letter or its November 2025 developer monetization overview. They are company statements, not independent evaluations or verified income outcomes.
