This is a historical roundup of nine gaming monitors named by TechGuided on February 12, 2022—not a current 2026 buying recommendation. The models span high-refresh 1440p, 1080p at 360Hz, 4K, ultrawide and lower-cost options. Some model details in the original article conflict, so check the precise model and regional suffix before relying on a specification or shopping listing.
TechGuided’s 2022 list is useful as a record of the kinds of gaming displays buyers compared at the time, but its recommendations, prices and availability should not be treated as current. The original article names nine products and presents them across several use cases; its Acer Nitro discussion refers to a different model, and its LG summary table conflicts with the body on screen size and resolution. Those inconsistencies make model-level verification essential. Read the original February 12, 2022 roundup.
What the nine 2022 picks were intended to cover
The roundup’s categories reflect different priorities rather than a single ranking of monitors that suit everyone. The descriptions below report what TechGuided said in 2022; they are not independently revalidated specifications for every regional variant.
| Monitor named | 2022 roundup’s description | Intended category |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung Odyssey G7 | 27-inch, 1440p, 240Hz, G-SYNC | High-refresh 1440p |
| Acer Nitro XV272U | 27-inch, 1440p, 270Hz, FreeSync | High-refresh 1440p; exact model needs checking because the discussion unexpectedly names the AORUS FI27Q |
| MSI Oculux NXG253R | 25-inch, 1080p, 360Hz, G-SYNC | Very high refresh for competitive play |
| Acer Predator XB273K | 27-inch, 4K, 144Hz, G-SYNC | 4K gaming |
| LG 38GL950G-B | The body describes a 38-inch, 3840 × 1600 ultrawide; the summary table instead says 27-inch and 1440p | Ultrawide; verify the exact model specification |
| ASUS VG278QR | 27-inch, 1080p, 165Hz, G-SYNC-ready | Lower-cost high-refresh display |
| ASUS TUF VG27AQL1A | 1440p, up to 170Hz | Honorable mention |
| VIOTEK GFT27CXB | 1080p, 240Hz | Honorable mention |
| Acer KG241Q | 24-inch, 1080p, 144Hz, FreeSync | Honorable mention |
How to choose among the categories
1440p at a high refresh rate
A 1440p high-refresh display aims to balance image detail with motion smoothness. It can suit someone who wants more resolution than 1080p without making 4K the target, but the frame rate you actually get depends on the PC and game. The Samsung Odyssey G7 and the Acer Nitro entry were positioned in this broad category by the 2022 roundup.
#1 Best Overall
- Immersive QHD QD-OLED Display: 26.5-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) QD-OLED gaming monitor with 360 Hz refresh rate and 0.03 ms response time for immersive gaming
- Advanced Cooling and OLED Protection: Highly efficient custom heatsink, advanced airflow design, and ASUS OLED Care+ functions to reduce the risk of burn-in
- ROG-Exclusive Anti-Flicker Technology: ROG-exclusive OLED Anti-flicker technology helps reduce the flicker during refresh-rate fluctuations

- Convenient Monitor Control Software: DisplayWidget Center software allows users to easily access OLED Care functions and adjust monitor settings using a mouse
1080p at 360Hz
A 360Hz display is aimed at users who prioritize very high frame rates, particularly in competitive games where their system can produce frames quickly enough to make use of the refresh rate. NVIDIA says its 360Hz G-SYNC displays use dual-driver IPS panel technology intended to maintain response times and color levels at high refresh rates; that is the manufacturer’s description, not an independent comparison of these nine products. NVIDIA also describes Reflex Latency Analyzer as measuring latency across the mouse, PC and display. A high-refresh monitor alone does not guarantee lower end-to-end latency or a measurable gameplay advantage for every player. NVIDIA’s 360Hz G-SYNC overview.
4K gaming
4K provides a higher-resolution target than 1440p, but rendering games at 4K and maintaining high frame rates demand more from the graphics system. A 4K, 144Hz label describes the monitor’s stated capability, not a promise that a particular PC can deliver 144 frames per second in every game. The roundup named the Acer Predator XB273K in this category.
Rank #2
- Base&Stand Gradually Upgraded: The newly upgraded metal base and stand will gradually replace the original ones. The new upgraded metal version is more stable and reduces desktop space usage;

Ultrawide
Ultrawide displays prioritize a wider view and a more immersive or expansive workspace. The LG 38GL950G-B entry is especially important to verify: TechGuided’s prose describes a 38-inch 3840 × 1600 screen, while its summary table gives 27 inches and 1440p. Do not resolve that discrepancy by relying on the roundup alone.
Lower-cost high refresh
The roundup’s lower-cost category aimed to retain a refresh rate above that of a basic office display while reducing the price tier. The list does not establish today’s street prices, so it cannot show which of these models is now the best-value choice.
Rank #3
- QD-OLED technology enables stunningly rich color and clarity, while QHD resolution (2560x1440) provides high level of detail.
- 360Hz refresh rate translates to superb motion clarity, empowering players to see and react to in-game situations at high speed.
- 0.03 ms gray-to-gray minimum response time** virtually eliminates blurring and ghosting and keeps latency to an absolute minimum.
- Infinite contrast ratio and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 make for deep blacks and stunning brights, all in the same scene.
- Excellent color performance with DCI-P3 99.3% color coverage and Delta E<2 accuracy for true-to-life visuals.
G-SYNC, FreeSync and compatibility
Variable refresh rate (VRR) lets a display adjust its refresh in relation to the source’s frame rate, which can help reduce tearing and improve perceived smoothness. The label on the box is not enough to predict how a particular monitor behaves with a particular computer. RTINGS distinguishes native G-SYNC from G-SYNC Compatible operation and evaluates refresh range and visual issues. Some FreeSync monitors can also work with NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatibility, but results depend on the monitor, GPU and connection. RTINGS’ G-SYNC testing overview.
FreeSync builds on VESA Adaptive-Sync, and implementations vary between monitors; certification tiers set different requirements. Therefore, neither “FreeSync” nor “G-SYNC” alone guarantees identical features or behavior across models. Confirm the exact display’s support and the intended GPU-and-connection pairing. Tom’s Hardware’s FreeSync and G-SYNC comparison.
Rank #4
- High-Resolution QHD Gaming Display: 27-inch QHD (2560x1440) gaming monitor with 300Hz refresh rate designed for professional gamers and immersive gameplay

- Convenient Settings Management: DisplayWidget Center enables easy monitor settings adjustments with a mouse
- Enhanced Dark Scene Visibility: Shadow Boost enhances image details in dark areas, brightening scenes without over-exposing bright areas
What to verify before using this as a buying shortlist
The 2022 roundup does not establish current prices or live availability for these nine models. Before buying, check the exact product suffix and region, whether the model is still sold, and whether the listing’s specifications match the manufacturer’s documentation. For a current comparison, also confirm:
- Native resolution and refresh rate together, including the connection required to reach the stated refresh rate.
- Panel type, VRR range and compatibility with your specific GPU.
- How response time was measured; advertised response-time figures may not describe typical performance.
- HDR capability, stand adjustments, warranty and current street price.
These are the comparison points a current shortlist should establish; the cited 2022 sources do not provide a verified up-to-date comparison across all nine models. TechSpot’s 2022 monitor guide says its testing methodology covered more than 60 displays, but that figure describes TechSpot’s process—not TechGuided’s roundup or current testing of these models.
