The POCO specifications above come from 91mobiles rather than a POCO manufacturer specification page. Samsung’s specifications are from its India product page. The comparison is therefore a specification-led guide, not a hands-on assessment.
Which phone has the better display?
The POCO has the larger listed display at 6.9 inches and a higher stated refresh rate of 144 Hz. The Samsung has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED panel with a 90 Hz refresh rate. Choose the POCO if screen size and refresh rate are your priorities; choose the Samsung if you prefer an AMOLED display. The specifications alone do not establish which screen looks better in everyday use.
Battery capacity: POCO lists more, but runtime is unknown
91mobiles reports a 7,000 mAh battery for the POCO M7 Plus, while Samsung gives the Galaxy M17 a typical capacity of 5,000 mAh. That is a capacity comparison, not a battery-life test: it does not show how many hours either phone lasts. Actual runtime depends on factors such as display settings, network conditions, and how the phone is used.

Camera hardware and stabilization
Samsung lists three rear cameras—a 50 MP main, 5 MP, and 2 MP—and specifies OIS on the rear camera. The POCO listing reports a 50 MP main camera. Samsung also lists a 13 MP front camera, compared with the POCO’s reported 8 MP selfie camera. Megapixel counts and camera hardware do not establish which phone takes better photos; no comparable camera test is available here.
Processor and performance
The listed processors are Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 in the POCO and Samsung’s 5 nm Exynos 1330 in the Galaxy M17. 91mobiles reports Geekbench multicore scores of 2,213 for the POCO and 2,071 for the Samsung, but its surfaced result does not provide enough test-protocol detail to assess the device configurations, software version, or repeatability. Treat those as publisher-reported figures, not a dependable measure of everyday speed. A broad claim that one phone is faster is not established by this comparison.

Software support: Samsung states a longer commitment
Samsung says the Galaxy M17 will receive six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates, with security support valid until 30 September 2031. Samsung describes this as its current plan and says timing and content may change. No manufacturer-backed software-support period for the POCO M7 Plus was established in the available information, so a like-for-like support comparison is not possible.
Price difference: compare the exact variant and live checkout price
Prices surfaced by third-party comparison sites do not agree. On 5 October 2026, 91mobiles displayed ₹16,999 for the POCO M7 Plus and ₹20,499 for the Galaxy M17. Smartprix displayed ₹13,999 and ₹17,990 respectively; its price details were reported as updated on 23 September 2026. These are dated snapshots, not a verified like-for-like checkout comparison, and the gap between them should not be treated as a stable price difference.

Samsung’s India product page identifies a 6 GB/128 GB Galaxy M17 variant, and the product listing also surfaced a 4 GB/128 GB version. Check the memory and storage configuration, seller, stock, and final checkout price for both phones before comparing them.

Choose the POCO M7 Plus 5G if
- You want the larger listed screen and higher refresh rate.
- You prioritize greater stated battery capacity, while recognizing that capacity alone does not establish longer runtime.
- You have verified the POCO specifications and price for the exact model and seller you plan to buy.
Choose the Samsung Galaxy M17 5G if
- You prefer Super AMOLED over the POCO’s reported IPS LCD.
- You value the rear-camera OIS specified by Samsung.
- You want Samsung’s stated six-generation OS-upgrade and six-year security-update plan, with its caveat that timing and content may change.
For a final price decision, compare the same RAM and storage tier at checkout. The available price snapshots differ, and the listed specifications do not settle questions such as real-world battery life, camera quality, or overall performance.
