The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered adds an in-game Mods menu powered by mod.io. Link your CD PROJEKT RED account to mod.io, subscribe to a supported mod, download it, then restart the game and enable it. The service is the console route for mods, but “cross-platform” does not mean every PC mod is available or compatible on every system.
Which platforms have cross-platform mod support?
CD PROJEKT RED lists PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S for Cross-Platform Mod Support. The game also launched on Nintendo Switch 2, and mod.io’s current game hub lists Windows, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. These platform listings describe the service’s scope; they do not guarantee that a particular mod is offered or approved on every platform.
The Remastered release was announced for September 29, 2026, on PC through Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, and Battle.net, as well as PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2. According to the publisher, owners of any previous physical or digital version can upgrade free within the same platform ecosystem. How to install a mod through mod.io in the game
- Launch the game and choose Mods from the main menu.
- Sign in with your CD PROJEKT RED account and connect it to mod.io. If you already use mod.io, confirm that you are signed into the account you intend to link.
- Browse the in-game catalog, open a mod, and select Subscribe.
- Wait for the download to finish.
- Restart the game, open Installed, and check that the mod is enabled.

What cross-platform availability means in practice
CD PROJEKT RED says many mods will be available across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5, but not every PC upload can go to consoles. Console players can use mods approved for their platform; mod creation itself must be done on PC. A mod’s listing, platform availability, instructions, and compatibility notes are the best guides to whether it will work for your setup.
Console approval and REDkit
The requirements depend partly on what a mod contains. Console mods that use scripts must be created with REDkit. Other content types, including textures and bundles, do not have to be made with REDkit. The publisher says REDkit-created mods have the best chance of console approval, but it does not guarantee approval. Submissions must also comply with CD PROJEKT RED’s Fan Content Guidelines and User Agreement.

Community mods are not reviewed by CD PROJEKT RED. Read the author’s directions and compatibility information before installing, particularly after a game update.

The publisher says older modding services remain usable. The in-game mod.io route is integrated and is the console access path, while Nexus and Steam Workshop follow their own PC workflows. Do not assume that a mod found on one service is listed, approved, or compatible through another.

What to check before subscribing or creating a mod
- For players: confirm the mod is listed for your platform, read its requirements and compatibility notes, and follow its installation instructions.
- For console players: use the in-game mod.io catalog and select mods approved for the console platform.
- For creators: create mods on PC. If a console version uses scripts, use REDkit; console approval remains a separate decision.
- For all players: remember that patches can affect individual mods. Check the listing for current compatibility rather than assuming a previously working mod will continue to work.
