If an ASRock Rack ROMED8-2T will not POST and displays Dr. Debug code 00 with an EPYC 7551P installed, check the exact board variant and CPU-to-BIOS support before replacing parts. Code 00 alone does not establish that the processor or motherboard has failed, and the available manufacturer information does not confirm whether this board supports the 7551P.
Confirm the board and processor before diagnosing code 00
The manufacturer’s product name is ROMED8-2T; “ROME8D-2T” appears to be a transposition in the title of the problem. ASRock Rack lists the ROMED8-2T as a single-socket SP3/LGA 4094 motherboard and currently advertises support for EPYC 7002 and 7003 processors. The EPYC 7551P is from the earlier EPYC 7001 generation, so advertised support for 7002/7003 does not answer whether the 7551P works.
ROMED8-2T and ROMED8-2T/BCM are distinct product variants. Read the model printed on the board, including any suffix, and record its revision before using a CPU list or BIOS file. Start with ASRock Rack’s ROMED8-2T product page, then consult the CPU Support List for the exact model and CPU entry.
Does the ROMED8-2T support the EPYC 7551P?
Do not assume it is compatible or incompatible from the processor family name or the board’s current-generation marketing. The decisive information is the exact EPYC 7551P entry in the official CPU Support List and the minimum BIOS version stated for it. The available product-page information establishes neither that CPU’s support entry nor a required BIOS version.

#1 Best Overall
- ATX (12" x 9.6")
- Single Socket SP3 (LGA 4094), supports AMD EPYC 7003 (with AMD 3D V-Cache Technology*)/7002 series processors
- 8 DIMM slots (1DPC), supports DDR4 RDIMM, LRDIMM, RDIMM/LRDIMM-3DS, NVDIMM-N
- 7 PCIe4.0 x16
- 2 OCuLink (PCIe4.0 x4)
Compare the listed minimum BIOS with the version installed on your board. If IPMI/BMC is reachable, use it to check the reported BIOS version. Do not assume that a newer BIOS supports every older EPYC generation: a 2024 community discussion reports differing support across ROMED8-2T BIOS versions, but that report is not official compatibility documentation. Verify any claimed version requirement against ASRock Rack’s CPU list and official BIOS release notes before acting.
What does Dr. Debug code 00 mean?
Code 00 is not, by itself, a diagnosis of a failed CPU or motherboard. ASRock’s general debug-code material does not establish a unique, ROMED8-2T-specific meaning for 00. A forum participant suggested incorrect CPU seating as one possibility, and a community thread raised an EPYC-generation/BIOS-support question; neither is enough to identify the cause in an individual system.

Treat 00 as a symptom to investigate alongside the board’s exact model and revision, CPU support and BIOS version, installation, memory configuration, and power connections. Avoid buying a replacement part based on the displayed code alone.
Work through these checks in order
- Identify the hardware: Confirm the board silkscreen says ROMED8-2T or ROMED8-2T/BCM, note its revision, and record the processor’s full part number.
- Check official CPU support: Find EPYC 7551P in the CPU Support List for that exact board. Record the minimum BIOS version if an entry exists; if no entry is present, do not infer support from the board’s socket alone.
- Compare BIOS versions: Check the installed version through IPMI/BMC if accessible, then compare it with the official CPU requirement and release notes. If the current BIOS does not support the processor, establish a safe, officially supported update path before attempting an update; do not assume the system can update successfully with an unsupported CPU installed.
- Check CPU installation: Follow the board and processor service guidance for installation. Inspect the processor and socket for seating problems or damage, and do not force the processor or socket mechanism.
- Validate memory and power: Check DIMM type, population, and slot placement against the board manual and memory QVL. Confirm the required CPU power connectors are connected. The board’s support for several registered and load-reduced DIMM families does not mean every kit or placement is valid.
- Escalate with useful details: If it still will not POST, give ASRock Rack support the board model and revision, BIOS version, full CPU part number, DIMM part numbers and slots, PSU connections, whether IPMI is reachable, and what troubleshooting has already been done.
Use the board specifications to verify identity, not diagnose the fault
ASRock Rack lists the ROMED8-2T as an ATX board with eight DDR4 DIMM slots, seven PCIe 4.0 x16 slots, two OCuLink connections, ten SATA ports, dual Intel X550-AT2 10GbE ports, and IPMI remote management. Its listed memory families include RDIMM, LRDIMM, RDIMM/LRDIMM-3DS, and NVDIMM-N. These details can help confirm which board you have and locate the right manual, but they do not determine why a particular system stops at 00.

If you are considering a replacement
Do not choose a replacement board or processor from the code alone. Compare the exact CPU model and minimum BIOS, board variant and revision, socket/platform generation, memory type and QVL, and whether you have a safe BIOS update path. The available information does not establish a specific replacement recommendation.
