If Roblox is not working on your Chromebook, first check whether the Chromebook supports the Roblox Android app through Google Play. If Roblox is already installed, work through restart, update, and app-repair steps; if the controls are the problem, check for a Bluetooth pointing device. Roblox’s supported Chromebook route is its Android mobile app, and not every Chromebook can install Android apps.
First identify what is failing
- Roblox is missing from Google Play or will not install: check Android-app support, administrator restrictions, and compatibility.
- Roblox is installed but will not open or keeps crashing: try the app and ChromeOS troubleshooting steps below.
- Roblox opens but the pointer or controls behave incorrectly: disconnect any Bluetooth mouse or other Bluetooth pointing device.
Roblox’s Chromebook troubleshooting guide says the Chromebook app uses the Android version of Roblox. That means the supported installation path is Google Play, not an unofficial download.
Why can’t I download Roblox on my Chromebook?
Check whether the Chromebook supports Android apps
- Update ChromeOS if an update is available.
- Open Settings > Apps and look for Google Play preferences. Google says that if this option is absent, the Chromebook does not support Android apps. See Google’s instructions for using Android apps on a Chromebook.
- If the Chromebook is managed by a school or employer, ask its administrator whether Google Play or app downloads are blocked. Do not try to bypass device-management restrictions; Google notes that administrators can restrict these features.
Understand an incompatibility message
If Google Play says “Your device is not compatible with this version,” Google says that specific Chromebook cannot download that app. Google also cautions that not all Android apps work on Chromebooks. Repeated installation attempts or switching ChromeOS update channels are not established fixes for this message. If Roblox should be available but the download simply fails, restart the Chromebook and check its internet connection. See Google Play Help’s Chromebook download troubleshooting.
Roblox won’t open on my Chromebook or keeps crashing
Try the least disruptive checks first. Roblox’s Chromebook guide recommends force-quitting and reopening Roblox, restarting the Chromebook, reinstalling the app, and checking date and time. Google’s general Android-app guidance also recommends checking connectivity and clearing the app’s cache or data.

Force-quit Roblox and reopen it
- Open Chromebook Task Manager with Search + Esc.
- Select Roblox in the list and choose End process.
- Open Roblox again from the Launcher.
Task Manager labels can vary slightly across ChromeOS versions; Roblox documents this force-quit method in its Chromebook troubleshooting guide.
Fully restart the Chromebook
- Shut down the Chromebook completely.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Turn it back on and try Roblox again.
This is Roblox’s stated restart procedure, rather than simply closing and reopening the lid.

Install available ChromeOS and Roblox updates
Roblox requires current ChromeOS for its Chromebook app. Check for a ChromeOS update in Settings, then open Google Play, search for Roblox, and install any available app update. Google’s Android app update instructions explain how to update apps through Play Store.
Check date and time
Verify that the Chromebook’s date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings. Roblox includes checking date and time among its Chromebook troubleshooting steps.

Check the connection, then consider clearing app data
Confirm the Chromebook can reach the internet and try Roblox again. If the app still fails, Google’s general Android app troubleshooting guidance includes clearing an app’s cache or data. Clearing data can reset local app state, so try the restart and update steps first. The app may require you to sign in again afterward.
Reinstall Roblox from Google Play
- Uninstall Roblox using the app’s available controls in the Launcher or Settings.
- Open Google Play, search for Roblox, and install it again if the Chromebook is eligible.
- Launch Roblox and sign in.
ChromeOS interface labels can differ by version. Reinstalling will not make an unsupported Chromebook compatible with the app.

Roblox opens, but the controls do not work
Disconnect a Bluetooth mouse or other Bluetooth pointing device and test Roblox again. Roblox states: “The Roblox App does not work with Bluetooth mice or other Bluetooth pointing devices.”
If you need a mouse, a standard wired USB mouse is an optional experiment, not a Roblox-guaranteed fix. Check that it can connect to your Chromebook’s available port, using an appropriate adapter if needed.
