On compatible Lumos helmets, use the Lumos app to customize the front and rear light patterns, save them in one of three light-mode slots, then select that mode with the helmet’s power button. The default slots are solid, slow-flashing, and fast-flashing; exact controls vary by helmet model and software.
What Lumos light modes let you change
Lumos support describes three saved light-mode slots. You can customize the front white light and rear red light separately, choosing settings that include lights off, solid illumination, or flashing patterns. A slot can therefore hold a combination of front and rear behavior rather than requiring both ends to use the same pattern. The default modes are solid, slow flash, and fast flash. Customize and save a light mode
- Turn on the helmet and pair it with the Lumos app. Use a compatible helmet and follow the app’s pairing prompts.
- Open the device settings and choose a light-mode slot. There are three slots; choosing one lets you edit the setting stored there.
- Set the front and rear patterns. Use the separate controls for the white front light and red rear light to choose the pattern you want.
- Preview and push the setting to the helmet. Lumos warns that saving a new mode overwrites the previous setting in that slot, so choose a slot whose existing configuration you are willing to replace.
- Select the saved mode on the helmet. After saving, a short press of the helmet’s power button selects the mode.
Labels and available options can differ by model or software version. If the app controls do not match these steps, check the instructions for your specific helmet rather than assuming it supports the same customization.

Do Lumos lights work without a phone?
Yes. Lumos says the helmet’s basic lights and turn signals work without a smartphone. The app is needed for the additional ability to customize light modes and patterns; a phone is not required for basic operation. Lumos support: Does the helmet require a phone to work?
Helmet and remote features differ by model
Do not treat “Lumos helmet” as one universal feature set. Lumos lists multiple helmet families, and their integrated lights, controls, and supported functions vary. Remote capabilities also differ. Remote Lite can activate turn signals, but Lumos says it cannot activate automatic brake lights. The full Lumos Remote has an accelerometer and supports automatic brake lights on listed compatible products.
