Minimis is pitching its Flow AR smart glasses as a way to see workout metrics and navigation without repeatedly checking a phone or wrist device. The glasses advertise optical heart-rate sensing, GPS, eSIM connectivity and ANT+ sensor pairing, but they remain a product in development: the available information does not show that they have replaced fitness trackers in real-world use.
What Minimis says the glasses will do
The product has changed names since its first announcement. New Atlas covered the concept as Minimis Glass in August 2023; the company’s current product page calls it Minimis Flow AR. The earlier announcement described glasses for runners and cyclists that would put exercise information and navigation in the wearer’s view. The current feature list is the company’s advertised plan, not independent confirmation of a finished product. New Atlas’s 2023 coverage and the current Flow AR page describe the respective versions.
Metrics, navigation and sensors
Minimis currently advertises live performance metrics, GPS turn-by-turn navigation and optical heart-rate sensing. It also says Flow AR will pair with ANT+ and Bluetooth sports sensors, listing radars, heart-rate monitors, power meters and speed sensors as examples. That could let a cyclist use compatible accessories for data beyond what the glasses’ integrated sensors provide. The company does not identify specific third-party sensor models as compatible, however, so check compatibility before relying on a particular accessory.
Connectivity, music and data
The company lists an eSIM, music streaming, voice and gesture controls, and direct activity uploads to Strava. Its specification section names Android 12, a MediaTek Helio G36 processor, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage and a monocular color display. Listed integrated sensors include optical heart rate, inertial measurement, temperature, pressure and ambient light. These are current company-published specifications for a developing product and could change before delivery. An eSIM does not, by itself, establish that every feature works without network coverage; the available information does not detail offline behavior.

- 【Biggest. Boldest. Smartest. — A Viewing Experience Like Never Before】This isn't just another pair of XR glasses — it's The Beast. The BIGGEST screen in XR (174″, 58° FOV). The BOLDEST display ever (1250 nits, Powerd by Latest Sony Micro-OLED). And the SMARTEST glasses on the planet — Your Screen, You Rules. Built-in 3DoF, screen customizations, Auto Transparency, and Smart Re-Centering that just work. No software needed. One glance and you'll never go back.
- 【SMARTEST: YOUR SCREEN, YOU RULES — No Software Needed】 Your Screen. You Rules! Built-in VisionPair 3DoF lets you pin, resize, and lock a 174″ screen in mid-air — no software, no dongles, no drift. Full screen customizations built right into the glasses: Anchor, Smooth Follow, 32:9 UltraWide, Side Mode. Auto Transparency switches between immersion and the real world with one tap. Smart Re-Centering snaps your view back instantly.
- 【BIGGEST: THE ULTIMATE IMMERSIVE GIANT — 174″ Screen, 58° FOV, 1200p】The largest virtual display in consumer XR. Period. A 174″ screen powered by Sony's latest-generation Micro-OLED panel pushes 1200p per eye at a class-leading 58° field of view with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Every frame is edge-to-edge sharp, silky-smooth, and jaw-droppingly vivid. It's like strapping an IMAX to your face.
- 【SMARTEST: 9-LEVEL DIMMING + AUTO TRANSPARENCY — No Software Needed】 Another reason The Beast is the smartest XR glasses ever made. One tap shifts between crystal-clear AR and full cinematic blackout across 9+ electrochromic levels — no app, no software, just hardware intelligence. Auto Transparency adapts between immersion and awareness on its own. Bright office, dim plane, pitch-dark bedroom — The Beast reads the moment for you. No glare. No reflections. Just pure immersion.
- 【BOLDEST: NEXT-LEVEL CLARITY & AUDIO — 1250 Nits + HARMAN AudioEFX】1250 nits of peak brightness — over 2× brighter than the competition — means you can actually see your screen outdoors, in sunlight, no squinting required. Pair that with HARMAN AudioEFX: deeper bass, wider soundstage, and crystal-clear highs tuned by the world's leading audio engineers. Other XR glasses make you choose between picture and sound. The Beast gives you both — cranked to eleven.
Can the glasses track a workout without a phone?
Minimis’s advertised combination of GPS, optical heart-rate sensing and onboard processing suggests the glasses are intended to handle some workout functions themselves. The eSIM is also part of the company’s connectivity plan. But the published feature list does not establish exactly which functions work without a phone, network access or paired sensors. Nor does it specify how activity recording behaves when connectivity is unavailable. “Standalone” should therefore be understood as the product’s ambition, not proof that every use case is phone-independent.
What “replace all fitness trackers” means in practice
Flow AR aims to bring together functions commonly associated with a phone, sports watch and bike computer: glanceable workout information, navigation, heart-rate monitoring, sensor connections and activity sharing. Putting information in the wearer’s view could reduce the need to look down at a wrist or phone. That is a plausible product proposition, not evidence of equivalence to every tracker or a better experience.

- YOUR PRIVATE 147” BIG SCREEN, ANYWHERE — Plug the a01+ into your phone, tablet, handheld, or laptop and a giant 147” screen appears in front of you—for movies, gaming, or getting work done on the couch, on a flight, or in bed. A true portable display you wear, in a soda-can-sized 210g case that drops in your pocket.
- ALWAYS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU — The screen follows your view with smooth, stabilized tracking and stays centered as you look around—nothing to anchor or set up, and no drift to reset. Press play and your big screen is simply there.
- 62G — LIGHT ENOUGH TO FORGET — At just 62g, with three nose-pad sizes and flexible temples, the a01+ stays comfortable through a long movie or flight, even lying down.
- LOOKS LIKE SUNGLASSES, NOT A GADGET — A slim, sunglasses-style frame with a signature semi-transparent chassis and neon logo—light and low-profile enough to actually wear out.
- WORKS WITH YOUR USB-C GEAR — No Battery to Charge — Connects and powers over a single USB-C DisplayPort cable: iPhone 15/16/17, iPad, DP-capable Android phones, Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Mac and PC. Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 and older (Lightning) iPhones need an adapter. For long phone sessions, add the XREAL Hub to charge and watch at once.
A meaningful comparison would require a finished product tested against alternatives on the same criteria. The available sources do not establish sensor accuracy, battery life in real use, comfort over a full workout, display visibility or obstruction, weather resistance, navigation behavior, or data compatibility beyond the company’s stated Strava upload. They also do not establish that Flow AR supports every metric or training feature offered by running watches and bike computers.
- For runners: the key questions are whether the display is easy to read while moving, whether heart-rate readings are dependable, and whether the glasses remain comfortable throughout a run.
- For cyclists: navigation and sensor pairing are central promises; riders would need to assess display visibility, route behavior and compatibility with their own equipment.
- For either group: runtime, phone independence, durability and the final price matter alongside the advertised feature list.
Development status, timing and price
Minimis’s current page describes a future product timeline rather than ordinary retail availability. It says Flow AR is launching in Q4 2026 and lists consumer-ready prototypes targeted for testing and certification in Q2 2026, with first delivery targeted for Q1 2027. Those statements do not line up perfectly, and both are company targets—not confirmed availability or a guaranteed delivery date. The page does not establish that consumers can currently buy the glasses through ordinary retail.

The US$699 reservation price New Atlas reported in 2023 was a historical offer, described at the time as 36% below an expected retail price. It is not evidence of the current price. The Kickstarter page records 183 backers pledging AU$160,361 against a AU$10,000 goal in the 2023 campaign; it shows a latest update dated August 24, 2026. Those figures document campaign funding, not units delivered or product performance. The Kickstarter campaign page provides that campaign record.

At category level, a 2022 European Commission staff working document groups smart glasses and fitness trackers among wearable devices and notes that wearables can include heart-rate monitoring, activity tracking and navigation. That context does not demonstrate that this particular product performs those jobs well. The European Commission document is about the category, not a Minimis product test.
