Rogers says 5G is available at every station on TTC Lines 1, 2 and 4, but its tunnel coverage is limited to selected sections. Station coverage does not guarantee a connection while a train is between stations. For a specific trip, check the TTC’s current cellular map and distinguish station coverage from tunnel coverage.

Which TTC stations and tunnels have Rogers 5G?

Rogers’ coverage page lists 5G at every station on Lines 1, 2 and 4, including platforms and concourses. It identifies tunnel coverage in these sections:

  • Line 1: between Sheppard West and Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, and within the Downtown U.
  • Line 2: between St. George and Bloor-Yonge.

Rogers names Rogers, Fido and chatr customers as able to access full mobile coverage in the areas shown on its page: Rogers’ Toronto subway coverage information.

The TTC’s system-level map describes cellular service in selected tunnel sections and at all stations on Lines 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6. That broader description is not a promise that Rogers customers have continuous tunnel coverage across all those lines; Rogers’ page specifies its own coverage. Consult the TTC cellular-service map, labelled as of July 2026, for the system’s latest mapped sections.

Does station coverage mean you’ll stay connected between stations?

No. Rogers says that where stations are covered but the connecting tunnel is not, service is available on the platform and while the train is stopped at the station, but not throughout the ride to the next station. A phone may therefore reconnect at a station after losing service in the tunnel. Check whether your particular station pair is shown as tunnel-covered, not just whether both stations appear on the coverage map.

How far has TTC tunnel coverage expanded?

The TTC and City of Toronto reported that 77% of tunnel sections had 5G coverage as of April 30, 2026. The same major-project report set 100% of tunnel sections by the end of Q2 2027 as a target; that is a dated target, not confirmation that it has been reached. These project figures describe overall progress and do not replace the route-level map. See the TTC/City of Toronto 2026 major-project report.

For historical context, the TTC reported in June 2025 that service was available in 38% of tunnels (25 of 66). The report described a neutral-host solution intended to make service accessible to mobile users regardless of carrier, but the June 2025 figure is not current coverage information. See the TTC cellular connectivity project page.

Can any carrier’s customer use the subway network?

For ordinary mobile service, follow the carrier-specific coverage details: Rogers identifies Rogers, Fido and chatr customers for full mobile coverage in its pictured areas. Separately, the TTC says riders can call 9-1-1 using any cellular carrier where 5G connectivity is available. That emergency-calling statement does not establish that every carrier offers identical voice or data coverage in the same places.

What should you do in a subway emergency?

Call 9-1-1 where cellular connectivity is available, and also use the train’s yellow emergency bar or strip to alert TTC staff. Rogers advises pressing the yellow emergency bar as well, so the subway operator and Transit Control are alerted. The TTC likewise directs riders to use the yellow emergency strip above train windows to notify the Operator and Transit Control. See the TTC emergency guide.

What Rogers says about the expansion

Rogers’ coverage page states: “Rogers has expanded its 5G connectivity in Toronto’s TTC subway system to cover every station (and select tunnels), so that our customers can continue to stream, scroll, make plans, share location and more while on the go.” The distinction in that statement matters: every station is not the same as every tunnel.
