To change where OneDrive and other cloud-storage actions appear in File Explorer, open Settings > Personalization > Context menu. Under Additional options, turn Keep cloud storage actions in their own section on to keep those actions separate, or off to place them under App extensions.
Change the setting in Windows Settings
- Press Win+I to open Settings.
- Select Personalization, then open Context menu.
- Under Additional options, find Keep cloud storage actions in their own section.
- Set the switch to On or Off, depending on how you want the actions grouped, then close Settings.
With the option on, cloud-storage actions appear in a separate section of the modern context menu when you right-click in a folder managed by that provider. With it off, the actions appear under App extensions. OneDrive is one example of a cloud-storage provider. The setting is reported to be on by default. The steps and behavior are described in ElevenForum’s August 18, 2026 tutorial.
If the setting is missing
This control may not be available on every Windows 11 installation. ElevenForum reports that it began rolling out to Insiders with build 26340.9212, identified there as Experimental 26H2; WindowsLoop also describes build 26340.9212 (26H2) or higher as the threshold. These are secondary-source reports, and Microsoft documentation confirming availability across Windows release channels was not established. Check your Windows build and whether the feature is available on your device rather than assuming the option should appear on all PCs. See WindowsLoop’s September 2026 guide.
Use the registry only if needed
A third-party tutorial documents a per-user registry alternative. Prefer Settings when the switch is available; editing the registry incorrectly can affect Windows behavior. If you choose this route, change only the Enabled DWORD at the following location:
