Spotify later included Canada in a list of 40-plus markets for the English beta, published April 24, 2025; that dated list does not confirm access for every Canadian account today.
When did Spotify bring AI Playlist to Canada?
Spotify’s September 24, 2024 announcement said the English-language beta was rolling out to Premium users on Android and iOS in Canada, the United States, Ireland, and New Zealand. Spotify had first introduced the beta to Premium subscribers in the U.K. and Australia in April 2024.

On April 24, 2025, Spotify’s later expansion announcement listed Canada among more than 40 markets where the English beta was available. Availability can change, so this chronology is not a live check of a particular account.
What does AI Playlist do?
AI Playlist turns a written prompt into a personalized selection of songs. You can describe a combination of genres, moods, artists, or decades, and then ask for changes to adjust the results. Spotify also suggests prompts involving places, activities, movie characters, colors, or emojis; these are company recommendations, not a guarantee that every prompt will produce the desired mix.

For example, Spotify has suggested prompts such as “upbeat pop music for my European summer vacation” and “a romantic playlist for date night at home.”
How to make an AI Playlist in Spotify
- Open the Spotify mobile app on Android or iOS and search for “AI Playlist.” Alternatively, open Your Library, tap the plus button, and choose AI Playlist.
- Select a suggested prompt or write your own. A prompt that describes the music you want—such as its mood, genre, artists, or era—gives Spotify a clear direction.
- Review the generated songs. Remove tracks you do not want, or enter another prompt to refine the playlist.
- Tap Create to save the playlist to Your Library.

Who can use it in Canada?
Spotify’s current AI Playlist Support page labels the feature “For: Premium on mobile” and says it is currently available in English. The page is served in Spotify’s Malta locale, so it does not independently verify eligibility for a specific Canadian account. The Canada announcement and later market list establish the historical rollout, but individual access may vary.
- Check the Spotify mobile app while signed in to the account you want to use.
- Search for “AI Playlist,” or look under Your Library after tapping the plus button.
- If the option is missing, the dated market announcements do not establish why it is unavailable on that account; consult Spotify Support for current account-specific guidance.
What are the beta’s limits?
Spotify said in its 2024 announcement that AI Playlist was still in beta and would not produce results for non-music prompts, giving current events and specific brands as examples. Spotify also said it had measures intended to address offensive prompts. These are Spotify’s stated product behaviors and may change; the feature is designed to generate music playlists, not to answer general questions.
