They are different captures. Chrome documents a built-in long-screenshot option on Android; on Chromebook, Windows, and Mac, the controls below capture the screen or display. Apple’s documented full-page webpage steps are for Safari, not confirmed here for Chrome on iPhone or iPad.
Android: capture a long webpage in Chrome
Chrome’s documented Long screenshot option captures more of a webpage than fits on the screen. Open the page in Chrome and follow these steps:
- Tap More beside the address bar.
- Tap Share, then choose Long screenshot.
- Drag the crop handles to include the portion of the page you want.
- Tap Confirm, then save or share the result.

Use Android’s system capture instead
For scrolling content outside Chrome, Android Help documents a system option on Android 12 and later: press Power + Volume Down, then tap Capture more and adjust the crop guides. Google says it works on most screens that allow scrolling, so it is not guaranteed to work in every app or on every screen. Follow Android’s screenshot instructions.

Chromebook: capture the whole display
To capture everything currently visible on a Chromebook display, press the screenshot key if your device has one. Alternatively, open Settings > Screen Capture in Quick Settings or press Shift + Ctrl + Show windows. In the toolbar, choose Full-screen screenshot. The toolbar also offers window and partial captures.
Screenshots are copied to the clipboard and saved to Downloads by default; you can change the save location in Screen Capture settings. Google also lists Ctrl + Show windows for a screenshot and Shift + Ctrl + Show windows for a partial capture. See Google’s Chromebook screenshot instructions and Chromebook keyboard shortcuts.

Windows: capture the entire screen
On Windows 10 or Windows 11, open Snipping Tool and select Full screen, or press Print Screen to copy an image of the entire screen to the clipboard. Windows + Shift + S opens the Snipping Tool capture overlay. Microsoft’s Snipping Tool also offers window, rectangular, and freeform captures.
These are display captures: they include the visible Chrome window, but the documented full-screen mode does not capture webpage content beyond the viewport. For the available modes and steps, see Microsoft’s Snipping Tool instructions.

Mac: capture the entire screen
Press Shift + Command + 3, then release the keys. The screenshot saves to the desktop by default. Click the thumbnail that appears to edit the capture, or wait for it to save. Apple notes that some apps can prevent screenshots of their windows. See Apple’s Mac screenshot instructions.
iPhone and iPad: distinguish Safari instructions from Chrome
Apple documents taking a full-page screenshot of a webpage in Safari on iPhone and iPad. Its guides describe content beyond the screen and options to save the capture as an image or PDF. What “desktop site” does—and does not do
On an Android phone, Chrome’s Desktop site setting changes how Chrome asks a website to display. It does not take a screenshot of the whole display or capture the entire webpage. Google documents it as a site-display setting: Chrome’s Desktop site instructions.
