Videotron announced its residential 2 GIGA Internet service on April 10, 2026, initially naming parts of Montréal, Laval and Québec City. The plan offers a published maximum of 2,000 Mbps download and 200 Mbps upload, but availability depends on the service address and the advertised speeds are gateway maxima—not a guarantee for every device.
Where Videotron first launched 2 GIGA
In its April 10, 2026 announcement, Videotron said the service was initially available in parts of Montréal, Laval and Québec City, with rollout expected to expand across more of its network in the coming months. That announcement describes the launch footprint, not a current street-by-street coverage map.
How to check whether your address qualifies
2 GIGA is offered only in selected areas. Videotron’s Internet page asks “Can I get 2 GIGA Internet?” and directs customers to check which plans are available at their address.
- Open Videotron’s Internet page and use its address or plan-availability check.
- Enter the service address where you want Internet service.
- Review the plans returned for that address. If 2 GIGA is not listed, the launch announcement alone does not establish eligibility there.
Videotron’s published information does not provide a complete current neighbourhood-level map, so checking the exact address is the useful way to confirm availability.

What 2 GIGA means for download and upload
Videotron lists 2 GIGA at up to 2,000 Mbps download and 200 Mbps upload at the gateway. The plan is not symmetrical: its maximum upload speed is one-tenth of its maximum download speed. Actual results can vary with the gateway, device configuration, wired or wireless equipment, the home environment, network and server traffic, and simultaneous usage, according to Videotron.

These are Videotron’s published plan or gateway maxima and availability descriptions, not independent speed-test results. Videotron says its network combines fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) and hybrid fibre-coaxial (HFC) infrastructure. Its 2.5 GIGA plan is listed for certain 100% FTTH areas; the company’s use of “fibre” does not mean every address has fibre all the way to the home. Switching, unlimited data and the advertised price
Videotron’s launch announcement said eligible customers could switch to 2 GIGA without new equipment and that unlimited data was included at no extra charge. The current English product page displays a limited-time offer of $85 per month for eligible new customers at eligible addresses, subject to Helix Internet subscription conditions. It excludes current Videotron Internet or TV subscribers from that offer.
The same page describes a lifetime $6 monthly promotional discount conditional on keeping a qualifying plan, gateway rental terms, possible installation fees, taxes and other restrictions. What equipment can affect the speed you get?
A plan’s gateway maximum does not mean an individual phone, computer or Wi-Fi connection will reach that rate. Videotron’s published configuration for optimal plan speeds includes an Intel 10th-generation Core processor or equivalent, Windows 10 or macOS 15, 8 GB of memory, 2 GB of free disk space, a Gigabit Ethernet network adapter, and Cat6 Ethernet for a wired connection. These are Videotron’s setup specifications, not independent test findings; a compatible wired device and Cat6 cable may help in a wired setup, but neither guarantees a 2 Gbps result.
Videotron also says that, in 2025, an average of 87% of Helix Internet subscribers got good or excellent results using the Full Network Test feature in the Helix Fi app. That is Videotron’s statistic about Helix subscribers and that app feature; it is not an independent network rating or a result specific to 2 GIGA.

What the launch says—and does not say
Quebecor President and CEO Pierre Karl Péladeau described the plan as “another step forward in our ongoing commitment to innovation and to our customers.” The launch establishes a new faster-download option in selected parts of Videotron’s Quebec network, but does not establish that all subscribers, locations or connected devices will receive the gateway maximum.
