To show widgets on a Windows 11 25H2 lock screen, open Start > Settings > Personalization > Lock screen. In the Widgets section, add items from the catalog, reorder them, or turn Widgets on. The available list can differ by device because Microsoft rolls out widget changes gradually.
Manage lock-screen widgets in Windows 11 25H2
- Open Start > Settings > Personalization > Lock screen.
- Under Widgets, review the widgets already listed. Drag an item to change its position in the reading order.
- Select a widget’s more-options menu to remove it or customize it, if that widget supports customization.
- Select Add widget and choose an item from the catalog. Only widgets that support the small size can be added to the lock screen.
- To hide all lock-screen widgets, switch the Widgets toggle off.
These are the current Widgets controls described in Microsoft’s lock-screen instructions. Depending on update rollout, some devices may still show the older “Weather and more” experience.
Which widgets can you add?
The Add widget catalog on your PC is the practical guide to what is available there. Microsoft has cited Weather, Watchlist, Sports, and Traffic as examples of lock-screen widgets; the catalog may not show every example on every device.
Microsoft’s August 27, 2026 preview servicing note for Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2 says Weather is the only widget shown by default, while users can add others in Lock screen settings. Microsoft said that change began rolling out to new users in July and was expanding to existing users, so it may not have reached every PC. The note is a preview servicing announcement, not a guarantee of identical availability on all 25H2 systems: KB5120998.

A September 22, 2026 preview servicing note introduces a Tips widget and says it can be added from the same Lock screen settings page. Its appearance, too, depends on rollout: the September preview note.
If a widget or setting is missing
- Open Add widget and check the catalog on the device; a widget not listed there is not currently available to add through that menu.
- Check Settings > Windows Update for available updates, then check the catalog again. A feature announced for 24H2 or 25H2 may still be arriving gradually.
- If you see “Weather and more” instead of the Widgets list, you may be seeing the older experience while the newer controls are being rolled out. Microsoft’s support guidance documents both interfaces.
- If you can add a widget but cannot tailor its content, its provider may not support customization from the lock screen.
Location and privacy
Widget information can be tailored using an estimated location from Windows Location services or, if location services are unavailable, from the device’s internet connection and IP address. Microsoft also cautions that individual widgets or dashboards may collect data.
