On Windows 11 builds where the setting is available, open Settings > Personalization > Context menu, then use Additional options > Move Properties to the bottom of the context menu. Turn the switch on to move Properties to the bottom of the modern context menu, or off to restore its default placement. The control is associated with Insider Experimental 26H2 build 26340.9212 and later, and may not have reached every system yet. Windows 11 Forum and WindowsLoop describe the setting and its rollout caveat.

Change the setting in Windows Settings

  1. Press Win+I to open Settings.
  2. Select Personalization > Context menu.
  3. Under Additional options, turn Move Properties to the bottom of the context menu on or off.
  4. Close Settings. The change applies to the modern context menu.

The setting changes where Properties appears; it does not affect the classic menu opened with Shift+right-click, according to the Windows 11 Forum guide.

If the setting is missing

The option may not appear on your PC because availability is gradual. The cited tutorials associate it with Windows 11 Insider Experimental 26H2 build 26340.9212 and later. They do not establish that the control is available on every Windows 11 installation.

If you are comfortable editing the registry, the tutorials describe a per-user alternative. This is third-party tutorial guidance; the sources do not provide Microsoft documentation confirming this exact setting or value.

  1. Open Registry Editor and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerContextMenuPreferencesMoveProperties.
  2. Set the Enabled DWORD value to 1 to enable the preference or 0 to disable it. If the key or value is absent, the cited guides describe creating it.

Changing registry data incorrectly can cause problems. Prefer the Settings switch when it is available, and make only the change you intend. Windows 11 Forum, WindowsLoop, and Geek Rewind describe the registry approach; Geek Rewind’s broader claim that the Settings route works on any Windows 11 computer conflicts with the build-specific availability caveat.
