Trend Micro announced the opening of its Global Operations Headquarters in Irving’s Las Colinas district, near Dallas, on September 17, 2013. The company said the site would serve as a U.S. base for research, customer support, sales, marketing and corporate teams—not as a replacement for its headquarters in Japan.
Where and when did Trend Micro open the office?
The company announced the grand opening on September 17, 2013, at 225 E. John Carpenter Freeway, Suite 1500, in Irving, Texas. The location is in Las Colinas, in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. What work was the Irving headquarters meant to support?
Trend Micro said the office would bring together several operational and customer-facing functions:
- Threat research
- Finance and legal
- Customer support
- Commercial sales and marketing
- Human resources
The company said 220 employees would initially work at the site, with room for further expansion. It described the move as establishing a U.S. base of operations. The company cited access to talent and ease of international travel as reasons for choosing the Dallas–Fort Worth area; those were its stated rationale, not independently measured findings.

Did the opening move Trend Micro’s global headquarters to Texas?
The 2013 release called the Irving location a “Global Operations Headquarters,” but that wording should not be read as saying Trend Micro moved its global or legal head office to Texas. The company’s current contact page lists the Irving address as its U.S. Headquarters and separately lists its Japan Headquarters in Tokyo. Those listings establish the offices’ stated roles and locations, not the legal status of the company or whether every 2013 operating arrangement remains unchanged.
What else accompanied the 2013 announcement?
The opening coincided with Trend Micro’s 25th anniversary and the launch of an educational grant program for K–12 schools. The company said each recipient would receive a package valued at $25,000 in cash, software and technology services, alongside an internet-safety awareness assembly. The announcement does not specify the cash-only portion or establish how many schools ultimately received grants.

The release also cited an IDC figure of 30.8 percent for Trend Micro’s worldwide corporate server security revenue market share. That figure was attributed to IDC’s Worldwide Endpoint Security 2013–2017 Forecast and 2012 Vendor Shares (document 242618, August 2013), as reproduced in Trend Micro’s announcement; it should not be treated as a newly verified IDC finding.

In an October 29, 2014 newsroom update, Trend Micro described the Las Colinas headquarters as expanding after its 2013 launch. The company reported hiring in sales, channel marketing, customer service, customer technology support and business applications, while again outlining the functions based there. Trend Micro’s October 2014 update documents the company’s account of that growth; it does not establish the move’s longer-term business effects.
