Prime Video combines shows and movies included with Amazon Prime with rentals, purchases, paid channel subscriptions, free ad-supported programming and some live sports. In the U.S., Amazon lists Prime at $14.99 a month or $139 a year, with Prime Video Ultra available for an additional $4.99 a month. The exact catalog, price, device support and ad options vary by country.
What can I watch on Prime Video?
Amazon describes Prime Video as a mix of Amazon MGM Studios productions, licensed movies and series, live sports and other live events. Its U.S. guide gives Fallout, Reacher and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power as examples; availability is not guaranteed in every country or indefinitely. Amazon says the selection of titles included with Prime changes as content is added and removed (Amazon’s Prime Video guide; What Can I Watch on Prime Video?).
Check how each title is offered
Prime Video displays several types of access together. A title appearing in the app does not necessarily mean it is included in a Prime membership. Check its detail page for the access type and any charge before playing.
- Included with Prime: No separate title charge while the title remains in the catalog.
- Rent or buy: Pay separately for the title. Rentals have a limited viewing period; check the title page and applicable usage rules.
- Add-on subscription: Pay a separate recurring fee for another service through Prime Video.
- Pay-per-view: Pay once for an event or special release where offered.
- Free with ads: Watch eligible programming with advertising; restrictions may apply.
Availability and viewing terms depend on title, location and content type. Amazon’s Prime Video terms say content and offers can change over time and by location.

Features beyond streaming
X-Ray provides behind-the-scenes information for supported titles. Amazon also describes Shop the Show as a U.S. experience. Eligible titles can be downloaded temporarily on compatible devices; the title page indicates whether downloads are available. For subscription titles, Amazon’s usage rules typically require starting a download within 30 days and finishing viewing within 48 hours after playback begins. Exceptions depend on content type and location, so check the title page and current local rules.
How much is Prime Video in the U.S.?
Amazon’s U.S. guide lists these prices in 2026:

To compare the cost of watching a particular show, add up Prime membership and any Ultra or channel fees, then check whether the title is included, rented, purchased or available through another subscription. Prime Video is part of a broader Prime membership, so consider whether its other benefits matter to you as well.
What devices support Prime Video?
Amazon groups supported devices into Amazon devices, Blu-ray players, game consoles, mobile devices, computers, set-top boxes and media players, and smart TVs. Its supported-device list is the place to check a specific model. Support can depend on the manufacturer’s software, and Amazon notes that device requirements can change and vary by location. Some devices support streaming, downloads or both.

- Open Amazon’s supported-device list for your country and look up the exact model—not just the brand.
- Confirm that the device supports the features you need, such as streaming or downloads.
- Update the device software and Prime Video app before troubleshooting access.
If a TV does not have the app, a compatible set-top box or media player is one option. Check existing smart-TV, console or player support before buying another device.
How do I avoid ads on Prime Video?
Amazon’s U.S. guidance lists Prime Video Ultra at an extra $4.99 per month. Amazon says the ad-free option removes advertising interruptions from most on-demand Prime movies and TV shows, but it does not make every type of Prime Video content ad-free. - Getting set up is easy – Plug in and connect to Wi-Fi for smooth streaming.
What Ad Free does not remove
- Ads in free ad-supported programming.
- Advertising during live TV and sports events.
- Promotional trailers shown before some movies or shows. Amazon says these can be skipped, but not removed with Ad Free.
Title pages may identify free programming as “watch with ads” or “with ads.” Check the specific title if avoiding interruptions is important.
Start or cancel the subscription
- On the Prime Video website, open Your Account, select Go Ad Free, then start the subscription.
- Where available on Fire TV, smart TVs, game consoles and set-top boxes, use Settings → Prime → Go Ad Free → Start Subscription.
- Manage or cancel the subscription through the account used to sign up. Amazon says it applies to profiles linked to that account.
Amazon lists Ad Free in Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Türkiye and the United Kingdom. The option is monthly in those markets, except India also has an annual option; Amazon identifies Prime Video Ultra as available to U.S. customers. Availability can change, so check your local account page.

Can I add other streaming services to Prime Video?
Prime Video offers paid add-on subscriptions from other services, managed through the Prime Video account. Availability and prices vary by region. In a U.S. article updated September 17, 2026, Amazon lists examples including HBO Max, Apple TV, Peacock Premium Plus, FOX One, Paramount+, MGM+, STARZ, Crunchyroll, AMC+ and BritBox (Amazon’s channels article).
Compare an add-on’s current Prime Video price and terms with the service’s own offer before subscribing. An add-on is a separate paid subscription, even when watched in the Prime Video app. Amazon’s pages give conflicting totals for free ad-supported channels, so no single count is reliable to quote; check the current catalog instead.
