If you use Verizon, its documented Android reset is to force-stop the Visual Voicemail app and clear its data. That is a carrier-specific procedure—not a universal Samsung menu path. Your carrier determines which voicemail app and setup steps apply.
Start with your carrier’s voicemail app and setup
Samsung notes that voicemail options and app names vary by carrier. Open the voicemail app on your phone, review its details, grant any requested permissions, and follow its setup prompts. For carrier-specific setup or service problems, contact your carrier. Samsung’s voicemail guidance explains the carrier variation.
Before resetting anything, identify the issue: a stalled inbox or missing notifications may call for app troubleshooting, while an incorrect password or unavailable service requires a different fix.
Reset Visual Voicemail on Verizon Android
Verizon documents these steps for its Android Visual Voicemail app. Settings labels can differ by Samsung model and software version.

Verizon says clearing data as part of this app reset does not delete voicemail messages. That assurance applies to the described Verizon reset; do not assume every carrier’s app or every mailbox action behaves the same way. Avoid deleting messages while troubleshooting, and preserve anything important. Verizon says deleted voicemail messages cannot be retrieved, while archived messages are saved to the device’s internal storage. See Verizon’s Visual Voicemail troubleshooting instructions and its voicemail message guidance.
Check mobile data, coverage, and call forwarding
For Verizon Android Visual Voicemail, mobile data and Verizon coverage are required; Wi-Fi alone is not enough. Verizon also recommends checking that Call Forwarding is off when voicemail is not working. If you make voicemail changes while offline, the app and network mailbox may not sync until data coverage returns. Verizon’s troubleshooting page covers these conditions.

Eligibility can matter too. AT&T says Visual Voicemail requires a compatible smartphone, an eligible AT&T Wireless or AT&T Prepaid voice/data plan, and a connection to AT&T’s wireless network. Its Samsung setup direction is to open the Visual Voicemail app. Check AT&T’s Visual Voicemail guidance for the service requirements.

Password rejected
Clearing app data is not the same as changing the voicemail password. Verizon directs customers who forgot their password to use My Verizon or dial *611. If another carrier’s mailbox rejects your password, use that carrier’s password-recovery instructions.
