LG’s CineBeam S (PU615U) is a compact 4K ultra-short-throw projector designed to sit close to a wall or screen. LG specifies a 40–100-inch image range, 500 ANSI lumens, RGB laser light source, webOS, and Dolby Atmos-capable stereo speakers. Its launch materials use the term “RGB laser”; they do not independently verify a particular three-laser architecture.
What LG announced
LG introduced the CineBeam S at CES 2025 as its smallest 4K ultra-short-throw projector. It is model PU615U, not the earlier CineBeam Qube (HU710PB). The compact format is intended for viewers who want a large projected image without placing a projector far across the room. LG describes the CineBeam S as capable of projecting from close to the viewing surface; its later global-rollout announcement gives specific placement distances.
LG’s January 2, 2025 US announcement calls the light source “Laser (RGB),” while its August 5, 2025 global announcement describes an “advanced RGB laser system.” Those are the manufacturer’s descriptions. “Triple laser” can suggest RGB primaries, but the cited announcements do not establish further construction details beyond the RGB laser terminology.
How close does it sit to the wall?
According to LG’s August 5, 2025 global announcement, the CineBeam S can produce a 40-inch image from 8.1 cm away and a 100-inch image from 39.3 cm away. The full stated image range is 40–100 inches. These are manufacturer specifications, not independently measured placement results.

Ultra-short-throw (UST) projection is useful when a room cannot accommodate a projector mounted well back from the screen. It can reduce the need to route cables across a room or reserve a table at the rear. The viewing surface still matters: LG says the projector supports wall-color adjustment, but that feature alone does not establish how a particular wall or third-party screen will perform.

The launch information identifies the format, core specifications, connections, and software features. It does not provide a current price or country-by-country availability, and it contains no independent review results for picture quality, sound, fan noise, gaming latency, HDR behavior, or ease of use. Treat performance figures and feature descriptions as LG claims rather than tested conclusions.

LG’s August 2025 release quotes YS Lee, head of IT Business at LG Media Entertainment Solution Company, saying: “The LG CineBeam S is a testament to our commitment to innovation, and to bringing a truly premium home cinema experience to a wider audience,” This is a corporate promotional statement, not independent product validation.
How it relates to the CineBeam Qube
The CineBeam Qube (HU710PB) is an earlier LG lifestyle projector, while the CineBeam S is the PU615U UST model announced in 2025. LG’s releases establish that distinction, but they do not provide like-for-like independent tests or comparative value data. The announcements therefore do not support a claim that one is better than the other on performance.
