Start by confirming that your exact card is supported by its issuer in your region, then check your device, software, Apple Account, and connection. If Wallet shows “Could Not Add Card,” “Invalid Card,” or “Card Device Limit,” contact your bank or card issuer: Apple says the issuer—not Apple—approves or declines payment cards.

1. Confirm your card and region are eligible

Apple Pay support depends on the particular issuer and card, and availability varies by market. A bank’s participation does not necessarily mean every card it issues can be added. Ask the issuer whether your specific card is eligible for Apple Pay in your country or region. See Apple’s card-add troubleshooting guidance and Apple’s setup requirements.

2. Check your device, software, and account

Apple’s setup guidance calls for a compatible device running current operating-system software, an Apple Account signed in on the device, and a supported authentication method. Depending on the device, that means Face ID, Touch ID, Optic ID, or a passcode. Apple also lists Apple Account two-factor authentication among its troubleshooting checks.

  • Install any available operating-system update for your device.
  • Make sure you are signed in to your Apple Account and that it is not locked, inactive, or disabled.
  • Confirm that a supported device authentication method is set up and that two-factor authentication is enabled for your Apple Account.
  • Check that Apple Pay is available in your country or region.

Apple’s compatible-device, region, and setup details are listed in its Apple Pay setup guide and troubleshooting checklist.

3. Retry after checking service and connection

A service outage or connection problem can interfere with adding a card. Check Apple’s System Status page for current service information, and verify that your device has a working internet connection before trying again. No live outage status is established here, so use Apple’s page for the current situation.

4. Match the error to the right support path

What Wallet shows What to do
“Could Not Add Card” Contact your bank or card issuer to ask why it is not approving the card for Apple Pay.
“Invalid Card” Contact your bank or card issuer to check the card and its eligibility.
“Card Device Limit” Contact your bank or card issuer about the card’s device limit.
A verification step fails Contact the issuer; it may need to investigate or complete card-specific verification.

Apple’s guidance directs people with the first three messages to the issuer. Card information is routed for checks by the issuer or payment network, and an issuer may require additional verification, such as a one-time code or a step handled through its own process. Apple states: “Apple does not approve or decline cards for use with Apple Pay.” See Apple’s troubleshooting page and Apple’s security and privacy guide.

The ultra-thin design is perfect for tracking your wallet, bag, laptop, ID card, jacket, camera bag, passport, and other items. • Wireless Charging, Super Long Battery Life: Enjoy up to 4 months of powerful GPS tracker use on a single charge, and any standard Qi wireless charger can easily power your wallet tracker. It's durable and environmentally friendly. (Note: Wireless charger not included.)
  • Timely Lost Item Reminder: If you misplace your smart card, the "Find My" app will immediately send a notification with the last known location to your iPhone—no subscription fees required. This helps you retrieve forgotten items.
  • IP68 Waterproof and Dustproof: The smart card is rated IP68, capable of withstanding everyday challenges, including splashes, spills, and even full immersion in water. Whether your wallet is lost on the roadside, in a puddle, or in a sewer, this wallet finder works reliably.

5. Check for an Apple Pay security restriction

Apple documents unusual Apple Pay activity as one reason that adding new payment cards may be blocked. On eligible devices and software, the displayed “Cannot Add Card” flow may offer Request a Review. If you see that option, follow the on-screen instructions; Apple says its review may take a few days. The option is conditional, and a review does not guarantee that card access will be restored. See Apple’s guidance on security-related Apple Pay restrictions.

6. Add the card through Wallet or the issuer’s app

Once eligibility and device requirements are in order, try adding the card in Wallet or through the issuer’s app if it offers that option. Follow any verification prompt from the issuer. If setup still fails, use the error message and the verification stage to explain the problem when you contact support: the issuer handles card approval and card-specific verification, while Apple’s device and account guidance can help identify setup requirements.
