DeFiLlama’s retrieved dashboards report different snapshots for bridged assets, Polygon DeFi TVL and bridge activity; those measures cover different things. None, by itself, shows how much liquidity is available to withdraw or sell for a particular token.
What do the Polygon bridge TVL figures measure?
“TVL” can refer to several different quantities. Before comparing figures, check what assets and bridge types are included, which chain pair is being measured, when the snapshot was taken, and how token prices were converted to dollars.
| Measure | What it describes | Retrieved figure |
|---|---|---|
| Polygon bridged assets, by category | A dashboard aggregation of assets bridged to Polygon, broken out by category; it is broader than deposits in one bridge protocol. | DeFiLlama’s dashboard snapshot retrieved 2026-10-04 reported $8.782 billion total bridged assets: $1.194 billion canonical, $1.165 billion native, $1.23 billion third-party and $4.17 billion stablecoins. |
| Polygon DeFi TVL | Value tracked in DeFi applications on Polygon; it is not the same as the assets backing or represented by bridges. | DeFiLlama’s Polygon chain dashboard snapshot retrieved 2026-10-04 reported about $754.32 million. |
| Polygon bridged TVL on the chain dashboard | A separate bridged-value figure from the chain dashboard, using that dashboard’s coverage and definitions. | DeFiLlama’s Polygon chain dashboard snapshot retrieved 2026-10-04 reported $7.791 billion. |
| Polygon PoS Bridge volume | Value transferred during a time window. Volume is a flow, not the amount held at a point in time. | DeFiLlama’s rolling window shown in the 2026-10-04 retrieval reported $207.76 million for Polygon PoS Bridge over the last 30 completed days; total bridge volume across Polygon was $5.579 billion over that window. |
| Cross-chain bridges-on-Polygon category TVL | A narrower protocol-category grouping, not all assets bridged to Polygon. | DeFiLlama’s dashboard snapshot retrieved 2026-10-04 reported $1.71 million. |
These figures should not be added together or treated as conflicting measurements of one pool. Their definitions and coverage differ, and the dashboards may also capture different timestamps. A large bridged-assets total does not mean that the same dollar amount is immediately available for every withdrawal or sale.
Can these figures show a Polygon bridge TVL trend?
No historical direction is established by these dashboard snapshots. A snapshot describes a value at a point in time, while the 30-day volume figure describes transfers during a window. Neither says whether canonical Polygon PoS bridge TVL has risen or fallen over a sequence of dates.

A defensible trend comparison needs dated observations from the same source and methodology, preferably daily or weekly. Keep the asset set, token treatment, chain pair, bridge classification, currency conversion and inclusion rules consistent. Separate changes caused by token prices or composition from changes in net flows. Do not splice DeFi TVL, bridged TVL, protocol-category TVL and transfer volume into one trend line.
How does the official Polygon bridge represent assets?
Polygon Support describes the native bridge as locking tokens on Ethereum and minting an equal amount of pegged tokens on Polygon. In the reverse direction, Polygon tokens are burned and the Ethereum tokens are unlocked. Polygon Support’s explanation was modified 2025-04-29.

This is the bridge’s accounting and transfer mechanism, not proof that every represented token has deep markets on Polygon. Polygon also describes the official bridge as a two-way channel that avoids dependence on third-party market liquidity for its official transfer mechanism. That is distinct from selling a token on a decentralized exchange or finding buyers at a particular price.
Does bridge TVL tell you whether you can withdraw?
Not on its own. A bridge redemption and a market sale are different exit routes. A token may be redeemable through a bridge but still have limited secondary-market depth; conversely, market liquidity is not a substitute for checking whether the intended bridge route and token mapping are available.

The retrieved information does not establish per-token order-book depth, stressed exit capacity, a withdrawal queue or challenge period, or a verified withdrawal service-level estimate. It therefore cannot support a universal exit-liquidity threshold or a claim that a given amount can be withdrawn within a particular time.
Checks to make before relying on an exit
- Identify the exact asset and route. Confirm the token contract and whether you mean the canonical Polygon PoS bridge, another bridge, or a token’s aggregate bridged supply.
- Check the bridge transaction and token representation. Polygon Portal provides a bridge interface and transaction history. If a transaction is not visible in the interface, Polygon directs users to support. An interface display problem alone does not establish that on-chain backing has been lost; inspect transaction and contract evidence before drawing that conclusion.
- Check the relevant exit mechanism. Determine whether the asset can be redeemed through the intended bridge route, and verify any applicable operational constraints or timing from the route’s current documentation. Do not infer an exit time from a TVL or volume figure.
- Assess market depth separately if you plan to sell. Review current bid and ask depth for the specific token and venue, expected slippage for the order size, and conditions during market stress. The cited dashboard figures do not provide these measurements.
Which risks belong in a Polygon bridge liquidity assessment?
- Asset and issuer concentration: Aggregate stablecoin value does not mean every stablecoin has the same issuer, redemption rights or market depth.
- Bridge contracts and validator controls: Consider the security assumptions of the relevant bridge and the controls over security-critical keys and operations.
- Token mapping: Confirm that the Polygon-side representation corresponds to the asset and bridge route you intend to use.
- Operations and access: RPC, indexer or interface problems can affect what users see or how they initiate transactions; investigate on-chain evidence rather than equating a display issue with a backing failure.
- Market liquidity: Measure depth and slippage for the individual asset. Bridge accounting figures do not measure these.
What the security sources do—and do not—establish
Polygon’s validator best-practices guidance discusses owner and signer wallets, safe key storage, key rotation, node isolation and limiting network exposure. It says hardware wallets can add a layer of security, but warns against treating them as fault-proof or as protection after a key has been compromised.
