To open a Samsung laptop safely, first identify its complete model code and find the repair guide for that exact model. “Samsung laptop” is not specific enough to determine which screws to remove, where to pry, or how the internal parts are arranged. Use the model’s instructions—not a teardown for a similar-looking laptop—and stop if the cover resists.
Find your laptop’s complete model code
Look for the model code on the label on the underside of the laptop. If the label is missing or difficult to read, check the device’s system information. Record the full code, including any letters and numbers that distinguish its configuration. Use that code when searching Samsung support; a family name such as Galaxy Book is not enough to select opening instructions.
Find and check the exact repair guide
Go to Samsung’s support site for your country and search for the full model code. Open the matching product page and look for a repair guide or service documentation. Availability varies by model and region: Samsung support listings include repair guides for some specific Galaxy Book models, including the Galaxy Book4 15.6-inch in Canada and the Galaxy Book6 NP740VJGF in Spain.
Before opening the laptop, confirm that the guide covers the job you intend to do and the relevant part is accessible. If there is no guide for your exact model, or the task involves delicate internal work that the guide does not explain, contact Samsung support or a qualified repair professional. Check the service options for your country and model.

Prepare before removing the cover
- Follow the model-specific guide from beginning to end, including its reassembly instructions. Do not transfer screw counts, pry locations, or battery-disconnection steps from a different Samsung laptop.
- Use tools appropriate to the fasteners and opening method shown for your model. A laptop opening kit with plastic pry tools and precision screwdrivers may be useful, but check the guide before buying tools; compatibility is not universal.
- Work carefully around the cover and internal connectors. If a cover will not release as the guide describes, stop rather than forcing it; a hidden fastener or a different release point may be involved.
Opening the laptop depends on the task and model
Some upgrades require removing the bottom cover. Samsung Semiconductor’s SSD-upgrade instructions show a laptop example in which the user opens the bottom, locates the SSD slot, removes its retaining screw, and installs an SSD. The page demonstrates with a Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSD; it does not establish that every Samsung laptop has a user-accessible or upgradeable SSD.
For a model-specific illustration, iFixit’s Samsung NP530U3B Ultrabook SSD upgrade guide describes removing the hard disk and carefully detaching the bottom cover. Its later instructions cover four battery screws and disconnecting a small power connector. Those details apply to the NP530U3B procedure only; they are not general instructions for Galaxy Books or other Samsung laptops.

Reassemble using the same guide
When the task is complete, follow the reassembly directions for the exact model. Do not guess at the position of screws or connectors, and do not press a cover into place if it does not align or seat normally. If the guide does not explain how to finish safely, pause and ask Samsung support or a repair professional for help.
