To edit a Tumblr reblog on the mobile app, tap the reblog button to open the editor, then change or add your own commentary before you publish. You can edit your contribution—not the original post or captions other people added earlier in the reblog chain.
Edit your contribution before publishing

Find the post you want to reblog on your Dashboard or open its permalink page.

Tap the reblog button to open Tumblr’s reblog editor.

Edit the commentary or other content you are adding, then publish the reblog.

The editor lets you add commentary, pictures, GIFs, or other content. The app’s editing tools appear along the bottom of the post editor, though their appearance and placement can vary with the app version and screen size. Tumblr’s Reblogs and Writing Posts help pages describe the editor and reblog process.

The original post or an earlier reblogger’s caption: You cannot edit another person’s contribution from your reblog.

Later captions already in the chain: Tumblr lets you remove everything added after the original caption using the X beside the added commentary. This removes later additions as a group; it does not let you pick off one individual caption.

Remove a reblog you have already published
If you want to take your own reblog off your blog, open that post’s menu and delete your reblog. This does not delete the original post or copies other users have reblogged to their blogs; you cannot remove those copies.

Tumblr’s “Reblog Control” setting is for limiting who can reblog a post you create; it does not edit someone else’s contribution. Tumblr lists “Anyone (on Tumblr)” and “No one” as the choices. In the app, find the setting in the three-dot menu while creating or editing a post. On the web, use the settings cog and choose “Reblog Control.” See Tumblr’s Privacy options page for details.

Why your added commentary matters for search
Tumblr says commentary added to a reblog is the part that can be searchable in relevant searches. Reblogs without added content do not appear in global searches, according to its Reblogs help page.
