To pair Samsung rear speakers with a soundbar, first confirm that the speaker kit is compatible with your exact soundbar model. Connect the kit according to its design, then use the soundbar’s model-specific ID SET procedure if its receiver’s LINK light keeps blinking. A solid blue LINK light indicates a connection.

Check compatibility before connecting or buying a kit

Find the complete soundbar model number on the unit, its packaging, or in its settings. Check that model’s manual or Samsung’s compatibility information before choosing a rear-speaker kit: compatibility is model-specific, and available settings can vary by model and country.

Samsung’s US compatibility list groups soundbars by kit. For example, it associates SWA-9500S with selected Q-series and S-series soundbars from the 2021–2022 model years, while listing SWA-9200S, SWA-9100S, SWA-9000S, and SWA-8500S against their own model sets. These are examples from the US list, not a complete worldwide compatibility guide.

Regional listings may differ. Samsung Ireland’s SWA-9250S product page names selected 2025 soundbars—Q600F, B750F, B650F, and B450F—as compatible. Check local documentation rather than assuming that list applies in another country.

Understand how your rear-speaker kit connects

Many Samsung kits use a wireless receiver module that communicates with the soundbar, while the two rear speakers connect to that module with speaker wire. The module also needs power. In this design, “wireless” describes the connection to the soundbar; it does not mean the rear speakers are completely wire-free.

Samsung identifies the SWA-9500S as a different design: it has no separate receiver module and requires power at each speaker. Follow the manual for your specific kit rather than applying receiver-based wiring steps to it. Samsung’s SWA-9500S product information describes that kit.

Connect a receiver-based kit

  1. Match the receiver plugs. Connect the gray and blue plugs to their corresponding gray and blue receiver jacks, and connect the speaker wires to the matching rear speakers.
  2. Attach each wire correctly. Insert the red and black wire ends into the corresponding speaker terminals. Make sure the metal conductor—not its insulation—makes contact with the terminal.
  3. Power the receiver. Connect the wireless receiver module to power. Use the kit’s manual for any model-specific setup details.
  4. Check the LINK indicator. Components that are factory-paired may connect when powered. A solid blue LINK light means the receiver and soundbar have connected; a blinking light means the link has not yet been established.

Use ID SET if the LINK light keeps blinking

Samsung’s Canadian support guide, updated in 2026, describes ID SET as a manual pairing step for a blinking LINK indicator. The remote button depends on the soundbar model, so check your soundbar’s manual if the steps below do not match its controls.

  1. Turn the soundbar off.
  2. On the remote, press and hold the model-dependent VOL or Up button for 5–6 seconds, until ID SET appears.
  3. Turn the soundbar on and check the receiver’s LINK indicator.

Samsung says the LINK light stops blinking and glows solid blue once a connection is established. If it continues blinking, check that the receiver has power, the colored plugs are in matching jacks, and bare wire contacts the speaker terminals. Then repeat the pairing procedure specified for your soundbar. See Samsung Canada’s wireless rear-speaker guide for its instructions.

Adjust rear-speaker output after pairing

If the rear speakers connect but sound quiet, check whether your soundbar offers rear-speaker controls. On supported models, Samsung’s Sound Control menu can provide a rear-speaker on/off option and a level adjustment; its Canadian guide describes a range from -6 to +6. The available menu and range can vary, so use your soundbar’s manual to confirm the controls for your model.

Know what surround sound the kit can deliver

A rear-speaker kit does not turn every source into discrete surround sound. The soundbar’s channel processing and the audio source affect what the rear speakers reproduce. Samsung says a rear kit can help produce surround sound when paired with a soundbar that supports 5.1 processing or better. In Samsung’s explanation, 5.1 means five main channels plus a subwoofer channel; speaker count and channel processing are not the same thing.

For a 2.0 soundbar or 2.0 audio, Samsung’s guide suggests that placing added speakers beside the seating area may feel more immersive than placing them behind it. Treat this as Samsung’s guidance, not a universal room-placement rule.
