If you need a Storybook-style catalog for Angular components, the closest documented options are Storybook configured for Angular—not a clearly documented standalone Angular-native replacement. Storybook offers Angular integrations for Webpack and Vite, and AnalogJS provides a community-maintained Storybook integration. Tools such as Ladle and Histoire are not documented as Angular-ready alternatives. The right choice depends first on whether you need a component-state workshop, API documentation, or runnable examples.
Is there an Angular-native replacement for Storybook?
Among the options reviewed, there is no clearly documented independent Angular-native replacement that provides Storybook’s component-catalog workflow. Storybook itself has an official Angular framework using Webpack and an Angular framework using Vite. AnalogJS also documents an integration that runs Storybook with Angular and Vite, but explicitly says it is not maintained by the Storybook team.
That distinction matters: these are ways to use Storybook with Angular, not separate products that replace it. If your requirement is specifically a browsable catalog for authoring and reviewing component states in isolation, evaluate those paths before assuming a React- or Vue/Svelte-oriented tool will work with Angular.
Compare the realistic options
| Path | What it provides | Angular fit and main caveat |
|---|---|---|
| Storybook Angular with Webpack | Storybook’s Angular framework, using Angular workspace targets and Compodoc-based documentation integration. | Official Angular framework. The current documentation specifies Angular versions ≥18 and <23, with Webpack 5. Confirm compatibility with your installed toolchain. |
| Storybook Angular with Vite | Storybook’s Angular framework for isolated component work using Vite; its documentation describes Vitest support. | Official documentation currently labels it preview and says it is planned to become stable in Storybook 11. Its Vite transform pipeline uses the AnalogJS Vite plugin; APIs and defaults may change. |
| AnalogJS Storybook integration | A community integration for running Storybook with Angular and Vite. | Not maintained by the Storybook team. The documented Storybook-to-Analog version pairings are subject to change. |
| Ladle | A Vite-based component development and testing tool. | Not Angular-native: its documentation describes a React-only tool and setup expects React and React DOM. |
| Histoire | A story application with documented Vue and Svelte support. | Its support table marks Angular unsupported. |
| Angular library documentation or Angular Playground | Options for documenting reusable libraries or creating browser-based coding examples. | Adjacent approaches, not established as a drop-in catalog for repeatable isolated component states. |
Choose based on the job you need done
For a repeatable component-state catalog
Start by checking Storybook’s Angular integrations. Compare the Angular and Storybook versions you run, whether your workspace is built around Webpack or Vite, the story and state authoring workflow, documentation output, testing integration, and any addons your team depends on. The official documentation describes these capabilities but does not establish a head-to-head benchmark between the options.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For library API reference
Angular’s library guide describes how to build reusable libraries that are imported into an application. That is a useful basis for API-focused documentation, but a library guide is not itself a visual component-state catalog. Decide whether consumers mainly need stable API details, installation and usage guidance, or interactive examples before selecting a documentation approach.
For a runnable tutorial or one-off demo
Angular Playground is an in-browser coding environment, so it may suit experiments or teaching examples. Its official description does not establish it as a Storybook-equivalent workshop for maintaining a catalog of component states.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
For building Angular UI components
Angular CDK is infrastructure for authoring components, not a component workshop replacement. The Angular Components repository distinguishes CDK, Material, and other packages, and links to documentation, demos, and guides. Treat those resources as implementation and reference material rather than evidence of a standalone Storybook substitute.
What to verify before adopting an Angular Storybook path
Webpack integration
Storybook’s Angular Webpack framework documentation specifies Angular ≥18 and <23 and Webpack 5. It uses Angular workspace targets to start and build Storybook, and its documentation path is Compodoc-based. Check the live compatibility documentation against your Angular release and workspace configuration before installation: Storybook Angular framework documentation.

Vite integration
Storybook’s Angular Vite framework documentation describes the integration as preview and says it is planned to become stable in Storybook 11. The schedule and status can change, so verify the current page rather than treating that plan as a guarantee. The docs describe it as feature-complete for documented use cases while noting that APIs and defaults may change. Its default setup extracts documentation from TypeScript sources server-side; a Compodoc-backed path is described as a temporary migration aid. See Storybook’s Angular Vite documentation.
AnalogJS integration
AnalogJS documents these Storybook pairings: Storybook 10 with Analog 2, Storybook 9 with Analog 1.22, and Storybook 8.6 with Analog 1.22. The guide identifies the integration as community-maintained, so check its current compatibility guidance and support route before standardizing on it: AnalogJS Storybook integration documentation.

Why Ladle and Histoire do not qualify as straightforward Angular choices
Ladle’s documentation describes it as React-only and expects React and React DOM dependencies; its React-focused speed or bundle-size claims do not establish performance for Angular. Check Ladle’s documentation and its getting-started requirements.
Histoire’s framework support table lists Vue 3.2+ and Svelte 4+ as supported and Angular as unsupported. A custom integration might be a separate engineering project, but the documented support table does not justify presenting Histoire as Angular-ready: Histoire framework support.

A practical decision checklist
- Define whether the deliverable is an internal component review tool, a public component catalog, an API reference, or tutorial demos.
- Confirm Angular-version and builder compatibility for the exact integration you plan to adopt.
- Check maturity and ownership: official Storybook framework, preview framework, or community-maintained integration.
- Validate how stories and states are authored, what documentation is generated, and whether your testing and addon requirements are met.
- For adjacent tools such as Angular library documentation or Playground, confirm they solve the specific reader task rather than assuming they replace a component workshop.
Sources and scope
This comparison reflects the cited official documentation as reviewed on October 4, 2026. Framework support, version compatibility, preview status, and integration pairings are volatile; verify them in the linked documentation when making an implementation decision. The comparison does not claim a measured performance winner.
