A Roku streaming player should generally work with an LG TV that has a working HDMI input. If you see “No Signal,” a blank screen, or a Roku remote that will not control the TV, the cause is more likely the selected input, connection, power, or remote setup than brand incompatibility. Work through the checks below to find which part is failing.
Check the LG TV input and HDMI connection
Select the HDMI port Roku is using
Use the LG remote’s Input or Source control and select the HDMI input where the Roku is plugged in. For example, if it is connected to HDMI 2, select HDMI 2. Roku’s setup guidance says to choose the HDMI port number used by the device. Give the TV a short time to detect the signal.
Reconnect Roku and bypass other equipment
Unplug and firmly reconnect the Roku player and HDMI cable, or remove and reseat a Streaming Stick. If Roku is connected through an AV receiver or soundbar, connect it directly to the LG TV while troubleshooting. This helps rule out an intermediary device or connection as the source of the problem. Roku outlines these checks for no-picture issues and switching HDMI connections.
Try another HDMI port
Move the Roku to a different HDMI port on the TV, then select that port using the LG remote. If the picture still does not appear, test the Roku on another TV if one is available. If it works there, the issue may be with the LG TV’s input or settings; if it does not, the Roku, its power, or its cable may be involved. This comparison narrows down the failing component but does not identify a repair by itself.

If the screen is blank or says “No Signal,” check power
Some televisions’ USB ports may not supply enough power for a Roku player. If Roku displays a low-power warning or its light flashes red, connect it to a wall outlet using the supplied power adapter. Roku includes power checks in its setup instructions and no-picture troubleshooting.
Replace an HDMI cable only if your Roku uses one
First test the existing connection and another TV port. Roku recommends using the included cable; if a replacement is needed, it recommends a High Speed HDMI Cable for a 720p or 1080p TV, or a Premium High Speed HDMI Cable when the TV supports 4K and/or HDR. A Roku Streaming Stick plugs directly into the TV, so it does not use a separate HDMI cable. Also, 4K or HDR playback depends on compatible Roku and TV hardware; changing the cable cannot add those capabilities to equipment that does not support them.
If video works but the Roku remote will not control TV power or volume
Treat this as a remote-control setup issue, not an HDMI picture problem. Update the Roku software and repeat the TV-control setup. Roku notes that voice commands use HDMI-CEC, which must be enabled for those commands; some televisions support only some power or volume functions. When the basic checks do not solve it
Roku players are designed to work with TVs that have an HDMI connection, so a working HDMI input on an LG TV is generally sufficient for compatibility. The selected input still needs to match the port in use, and the player needs a sound connection and adequate power. LG menu names and options vary by model and software version; if the checks above do not help, consult the manual or support information for your exact LG model. Roku’s no-picture steps can help narrow down the problem, but a cross-TV test alone does not establish which component needs repair.
