The exact pairing steps depend on your Buds model and the device’s software: Samsung Galaxy devices running One UI 8.0 can pair through a QuickPair prompt or Bluetooth settings, while other setups may use Galaxy Wearable or Bluetooth settings.
What “activate” means for Galaxy Buds
There is no single activation or account-registration step that applies to every Samsung earbud. In practice, activation means pairing the Buds with a device, confirming that audio plays through them, and enabling optional controls or features when the model supports them.
Pair Galaxy Buds with a phone or tablet
First identify your Buds model and the software on the device you want to connect. Samsung’s QuickPair and direct-Bluetooth guidance applies specifically to Galaxy devices updated to One UI 8.0; other devices and software versions can have a different setup flow.

Other Samsung Galaxy devices or software versions
Depending on the model and software, add or select the Buds in Galaxy Wearable, or pair them manually in the device’s Bluetooth settings. Samsung’s general instructions describe alternative setup routes rather than one universal path: Samsung Gulf’s Galaxy Buds connection guide.
Other phones and tablets
Use the connection method supported by your Buds model and device. Some models connect directly through Bluetooth, while app availability and features vary by platform. Samsung says several older Galaxy Buds models cannot use the Buds app for iOS and instead connect directly through Bluetooth; check Samsung’s model and platform guidance before expecting app features to be available.

Make sure audio plays through the earbuds
After pairing, open a music app or another audio source on the connected phone or tablet and start playback. Samsung’s instructions explain that audio plays through connected earbuds; if it does not, check the device’s audio output selection and confirm that the Buds remain connected. Set up touch controls when supported
Touch controls are optional and differ by model. In a supported setup, use Galaxy Wearable’s touch-control settings to enable or customize available actions. If taps do nothing, check whether touch controls are disabled or blocked in the relevant app, and make sure the Buds are being worn so their sensors can detect contact. Troubleshoot connection or control problems
Touch commands are not responding
- Check whether touch controls are enabled or blocked in the applicable app.
- Adjust the earbuds so they are being worn correctly and their sensors make contact.
- Restart the Buds and check for available software updates. Samsung’s touch troubleshooting instructions cover these checks and service escalation.
Restart or reset the earbuds
Try a restart first for a minor connection glitch or unresponsive earbuds. A reset is a stronger step for persistent problems. Samsung’s Galaxy Wearable reset route requires the Buds to be connected to the app, so the reset option may not be available when they are disconnected; supported software may also provide a reset route through device settings. Follow Samsung’s restart and reset instructions for your setup.
One earbud will not sync with the other
Samsung’s documented re-sync procedure includes removing and reinserting both earbuds in the case, then holding both touchpads for at least seven seconds. Indicator behavior and exact steps can depend on the model, so follow Samsung’s earbud sync instructions for the Buds you own. Contact Samsung service if the model-specific steps do not resolve the problem.
